Stampin’ Up! Blossoms in Bloom Card for the Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome to the Inkin’ Krew Monthly Blog Hop! This month the Inkin’ Krew team is creating “Birthday” themed cards and I am featuring the Blossoms in Bloom bundle and the Many Mates stamp set from the new 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. It also showcases the new 2020-22 In Color products. Enjoy!

The Paper

  • Bumblebee Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″, 4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ for the large floral outline die from Many Layered Blossoms Dies.
  • Misty Moonlight Cardstock:  4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Whisper White Cardstock: two 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ panels (front & inside) and a scrap for the sentiment (3/8″ x 2 5/16″)
  • Vellum Cardstock: 4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ for a large floral outline die from Many Layered Blossoms Dies.

Creating the Card Front

  • Adhere the Whisper White panel to the card front and the Misty Moonlight panel on top.
  • Cut the large floral outline die from Many Layered Blossoms Dies from Vellum Cardstock using your die cutting machine. Adhere it to the Misty Moonlight layer with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. Tip: choose locations where the outline is thickest such as the leaf clusters and the floral centers.
  • Stamp the large blossom image from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set with VersaMark Ink onto Bumblebee Cardstock (at the time of the making the Bumblebee Ink was not yet available to order, but it is now and you could use it instead). Tip: for large stamps I like to use my Stamparatus. If a spot does not get enough even pressure to stamp clearly all you have to do is close the door and press where needed. It lines up perfectly and works great!
  • Line up the large floral outline die from Many Layered Blossoms Dies over the stamped image and die cut with your die cutting machine. Tip: I use washi tape to secure the die in place so that it doesn’t scoot as I apply it to the plates. Carefully remove the die, but leave the cut pieces in their place on your cutting plate. (Your Take Your Pick tool may come in handy here). This will serve as your pattern to layer your pieces. Tip: Australian Demonstrator, Kylie Bertucci, has a video on Paper Piecing using Press n Seal that you can view here. I tried it and found I stuck to the Press n Seal more than the paper did which led to rearrangement of my cut pieces. My talented team member, Mary Deatherage at Stamps-N-Lingers, had success with it though and you can view here video here. It may work great for you.
  • Do a dry fit to place the flower petals in place over the vellum outline die cut. Decide which petals you would like to be popped and apply Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop them up. Apply the others with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. Save the outline portion for the inside of the card.
  • Stamp the sentiment on a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock and apply it to a strip of Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon with Mini Glue Dots. Pop it on the card front with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Add 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots in Bumblebee.
So worth it for the added dimension! You can almost see them flutter in the breeze.

Decorating the Inside and Envelope

  • Stamp your sentiment on the inside Whisper White panel with Misty Moonlight Ink (this came early in the Paper Pumpkin Kit, yay!)
  • Adhere the left over Bumblebee outline floral die cut to the inside of the card and trim anything hanging over with Paper Snips.
  • Stamp a portion of the floral stamp on the envelope and add the floral centers. (I had to use Crushed Curry which is a little brighter and not as golden, but I recommend you use Bumblebee now that it’s available).
