Stampin’ Up! Handsomely Suited Father’s Day Card for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome to Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop for May! Today we are sharing projects “for the men/boys”. You will find links at the bottom of my post to hop you along the way to the other projects. Be sure to visit them all to see how each team member interpreted the theme in what they made for you!

I used the Handsomely Suited Bundle from the 2021 January to June 2021 Mini Catalog (page 67) to make a Happy Father’s Day card for my Father-In-Law.   The Handsomely Suited Cling Stamp Set (9 stamps) and the Suit & Tie Dies (14 dies) are discounted 10% when purchased together (#156240) until June 30, 2021 (11:50 pm MT).  Thereafter, they will only be available to order individually through the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog (page 50 and 156) at full cost.  At the end of the blog there are links to all the products used in the making. I hope you enjoy!

The Paper Cuts

  • Misty Moonlight Cardstock: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ (card base) and 1”x1” (button die from Suite & Tie Dies)
  • Smoky Slate Cardstock: 4” x 6” (largest die cut from Stitched Rectangle Dies)
  • Basic White Cardstock:  3 1/2” x 5” (2nd largest die cut from Stitched Rectangle Dies), and 4” x 5 1/4” (inside panel)
  • Vellum Cardstock:  6” x 1/2” (thin rectangle die – “suspenders” –  from Suite & Tie Dies)

The Creating

I began by die cutting the two Stitched Rectangle Dies and the two Suit & Tie Dies.

With Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, I stamped the three ties on the Basic White stitched die cut and on the Basic White Medium EnvelopeTIP:  I found it easiest way to get the ties straight and even was to use my Stamparatus.  The grid on the clear door helped me ensure the ties were straight up and down.  I used Hinge-Step stamping to get them level and equally spaced:  I lined up and stamped the first one with the door in position and then moved the door down a hinge for the 3rd one which then allowed the center one to be lined up and stamped in the middle.

I also used the Stamparatus and Tuxedo Black Ink to stamp the inside greeting and tie (at the same time).  I decided to let my Mother-In-Law be the one to tell my Father-In-Law he is handsome, so I masked off the bottom line with a Post It Note. Just remember to remove it once you’ve inked and before you stamp!

I stamped the sentiment on the center of the Vellum die cut and dried it with my Heat Tool (because I’m not patient enough to wait for it to dry).

I colored the ties with Light and Dark Stampin’ Blends Combos in Smoky Slate and Misty Moonlight.  I chose to shade the right side of the ties.  TIP:  place a scrap piece of paper inside the envelope to prevent bleed through.

With Multipurpose Liquid Glue I adhered the stamped stitched rectangle to the Smoky Slate one.  I wrapped the Vellum die cut around these layers and secured them on the back with tape.  I added the button embellishments (I wish you could see the cute thread detail in the picture) with Mini Glue Dots and the putty end of my Take Your Pick Tool.  With my Take Your Pick Tool, I slid a Mini Glue Dot underneath the vellum where the left and right buttons are (so the glue dot is hidden) to secure the sentiment closer and more securely to the cardstock.  I popped these layers on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Fantastic! Love the blues and grays, and the way you shaded the ties. I wouldn’t have thought of that. The buttons are the perfect accent!
