Blossoms in Bloom Dimensional Birthday Card

This card features the Blossoms in Blooms Bundle and is sort of an “addendum” to the one posted on October 7th. It was stamped flowers with the delicate outline die cut adhered on top. Well, the petals that fell from the outline die were just too pretty to throw away, plus, I had centers left from this card. So…

The Paper Cuts

  • Cherry Cobbler Cardstock: Many Layered Blooms floral outline die cut (4 3/4″ x 5″).
  • Crushed Curry Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11, scored at 5 1/2″ for the card base and the Many Layered Blooms floral outline die cut (4 3/4″ x 5″).
  • Whisper White Cardstock: two 4″ x 5 1/4″ panels for the front and inside, and 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ for the sentiment.

The Creating

  • Lay the metal die upside down on your work surface. Place the petals back in their original location (like putting a puzzle back together, but easier). The backs of the petals will be facing up toward you. Apply Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive on the backs of 3 of the petals in each flower. Press a Whisper White panel on top and allow the glue to set a minute. Lift up gently, leaving the other 2 petals of each flower in place.
  • Apply Stampin’ Dimensionals on the remaining 2 petals of each flower. Remove the backing and place them on the card where they belong using the other 3 as a guide. The dimensional effect you get is worth the effort! (It’s much more dramatic than the flattened photography shows).
  • Use Paper Snips to trim the flower centers from the Crushed Curry die cut. (Save the flower outline to use on other projects). Adhere inside the petals.
  • With Cherry Cobbler ink stamp “Happy Birthday” on the 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ of Whisper White and flag the ends with the Banner Triple Punch. Pop up on the card front with 3-4 Stampin’ Dimensionals. Add 3 Cherry Cobbler Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
  • On the Whisper White panel for the inside stamp the Blossom in Blooms image (partial) in Cherry Cobbler ink overhanging the bottom edge. Repeat on the envelope flap. Stamp the Crushed Curry centers.
  • The inside greeting is from the Many Mates stamp set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler.
Tip: When stamping large stamps and/or dark ink colors on light paper use the Stamparatus so you can do two or three layers of ink to get the depth you are looking for.

Stampin’ Up! Dressed to Impress Plaid Shaker Birthday Card

This birthday shaker card is for my mother…all the things she loves…shine, sparkle, gold, pink and made by me! It features the Dressed to Impress stamps and dies and the Celebration Labels dies. Enjoy!

The Paper Cuts

  • Shimmer White Cardstock: a cardbase cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″, two of the 2nd smallest Celebration Labels die and scraps for the floral and sentiment.
  • Plaid Tidings 6×6 Designer Series Paper: a 6×6 sheet cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″. You’ll use the remaining pieces for the envelope flap and the strip inside.
  • Gold Foil Sheets: the middle sized Celebration Labels die.
  • Window Sheet: the 2nd smallest Celebration Labels die.

The Creating

  • Use the perfume bottle die to cut out the center of one of the Shimmer White labels. Lay the label on top of the other, place in the Stamparatus to line up the perfume stamp through the opening. Remove the label with the opening. Stamp the perfume bottle with Versamark Ink, sprinkle with Gold Stampin’ Emboss and melt with the Heat Tool. Repeat with the sentiment on the inside of the card, the rose image and the “hello fabulous”.
  • Color the rose image with Stampin’ Blends.
  • Fussy cut the “hello fabulous” with Paper Snips. Apply Foam Adhesive Strips to the top of the “h” and the “ll”s.
  • Die cut the floral image with the coordinating die. Apply Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back.

Stampin’ Up! Pattern Play Stamparatus Birthday Card

The star of this card is unseen by the recipient…it’s the Stamparatus. The Stamparatus is what affords the crisp, evenly spaced images from the Pattern Play photopolymer stamp set with the Hinge Technique. Stampin’ Up! CEO Sarah Douglas made a Facebook Live Video illustrating the technique.

There is also a pictorial on page 55 of the Stampin’ Up! 2020-21 Annual Catalog.

The Paper Cuts

  • Blackberry Bliss Cardstock: a cardbase cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″, and a 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ strip for the sentiment.
  • Whisper White Cardstock: two 5 1/4″ x 4″ panels for the card front and the inside

Other pluses to the Stamparatus: You can re-stamp an image a second time if there is missing pressure on a large image or a faint impression with a dark ink. If you have arthritis in your hands, the Stamparatus can be easier to manipulate that the acrylic blocks.

The Creating

Use the Stamparatus Hinge Technique – every other hinge – to stamp the following on the front panel.

  • Stripe image with Cherry Cobbler ink
  • Dot image with Crushed Curry ink
  • “Fill the day…” image with Blackberry Bliss ink

Repeat the above on the Whisper White Medium Envelope flap.

Add the stripe and the dots on the bottom of the inside panel as well as the “Cue the Confetti” sentiment in Blackberry Bliss Ink.

Use Versamark ink to stamp the “Today is all about you!” image from the Many Mates stamp set on the strip of Blackberry Bliss cardstock. Sprinkle with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and set with the Heat Tool. Use the Banner Triple Punch to flag the left end. Pop on the card front with 3 Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finish with 3 Cherry Cobbler Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Blossoms in Bloom Birthday Card

This card features the Blossoms in Blooms Bundle simply stamped with a die overlay. I love a simple card that looks difficult. Don’t you? This is a Distinktive Stamp Set which has the color variations build in for depth and intensity. You can find a list of Distinktive Stamps on page 114 of the 2020-21 Annual Catalog.

The Paper Cuts

  • Cherry Cobbler Cardstock: 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″ card base and the floral outline die cut.
  • Whisper White Cardstock: two 5 1/4″ x 4″ panels for the front and inside, and a 1/2″ x 3″ scrap for the sentiment.

I chose Cherry Cobbler for this card because the recipient is a University of Alabama Grad (as I am) and because it reminded me of the colors in the gorgeous mum my sister gave me for my birthday last week. Customization is just one of the benefits of creating your own cards!

The Creating

  • Stamp the large floral image on the front panel in Cherry Cobbler ink. I like to use my Stamparatus for large stamps like this. It ensures that I can realign it if there is a spot that I don’t apply enough pressure to. Stamp the leaves in Mossy Meadow ink. Hit your envelope flap while your at it to save time 😉
  • Stamp the floral centers with Crushed Curry ink and use a Sponge Dauber to add additional color if desired. Don’t forget the envelope flap!
  • With Mossy Meadow ink stamp “Happy Birthday” on the scrap of Whisper White and flag the front end with the Banner Triple Punch. Apply three Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back.
  • The inside greeting is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler. I chose it because it has print (as well as the cursive) to match the greeting in the Blossoms in Bloom sentiment.
  • Use Paper Snips to trim the leaf and small flower outlines from the large floral outline die cut. Save the leaf sprigs. Lay the pieces upside down on the Silicone Craft Sheet, squeeze a little Multipurpose Liquid Glue on the corner and use 1/8 of a Stampin’ Sponge to apply the glue to the delicate die. (I keep mine in a small plastic container with a binder clip as a handle). Poition the floral outline over the stamped image and press into place. Apply the leaf sprigs on the inside panel.
  • Add the strip with the dimensionals and 3 Cherry Cobbler Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the card front.

Stampin’ Up! Magenta Peaceful Poppies Birthday Card

This card features the Peaceful Poppies Bundle. This is one of those must haves. It has awesome dies and great sentiments for multiple occasions. I reach for it often. The Shimmer White Cardstock, largest Water Painter and Magenta Madness 2020-22 In Color are new to me though. The Shimmer Paper didn’t photograph well, but it has beautiful subtle shimmer that was enhanced by the watercoloring. Enjoy!

The Paper Cuts

  • Night of Navy Cardstock: 4 1/4″” x 8 1/2″, scored at 5 1/2″; 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ and one each of the 3 floral center dies.
  • Magenta Madness Cardstock: 5 1/4″ x 4″, and one of each of the thin detail poppy dies (save the petals from the largest).
  • Shimmer White Cardstock: 5′ x 3 3/4″, 5 1/4″ x 4″ and approximately 4″ x 8″ for watercolor/die cutting.
  • Old Olive Cardstock: 2 leaf thin detail dies, 2 sprig thin detail dies and 2 bud stems.

The Creating

  • Use the largest Water Painter to color half of the largest piece of Shimmer White Cardstock with Old Olive Ink and the other half with Magenta Madness Ink. Some dark and some light areas are a good thing! Use the Heat Tool to speed up drying if you would like.
  • Cut one of each of the poppy outline dies and 2 poppy buds from the watercolored Magenta Madness shimmer paper.
  • Cut 2 sprig outline dies, 2 leaf outline dies and 2 leaf detail dies from the watercolored Old Olive shimmer paper.
  • Emboss the sentiment on the smallest blue panel using VersaMark Ink, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the Heat Tool.
  • Adhere the cardstock layers to the card front. Adhere the die cuts together (the Silicone Craft Sheet is useful to control any glue overflow). Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the smaller poppy. Dry fit on the card front and then glue in place.
  • Add 3 of the white Elegant Faceted Gems.

The Inside and Envelope

  • Place the pieces (petals) of the large poppy detail die back in the die. (The die will be face down and the pieces will fit in upside down). Hold each petal in place with the Take Your Pick Tool (pointy end) and apply Multipurpose Liquid Glue to each petal. Place the inside panel down on top to adhere the petals in the lower left corner. Add the floral center and watercolor leaf detail dies. Trim any overhang. Stamp the greeting in Night of Navy Ink .
  • Add poppies and leaves from the Painted Poppies stamp set to the envelope.

My husband has started paying me a compliment…when he needs a card he asks to look through my Stampin’ Up! Card Box which houses the cards I’ve made. I’m flattered! This week though, it became obvious I haven’t made any masculine birthday cards lately. Well, it must be fixed! Enjoy!

Stampin’ Up! So Sentimental Birthday

This card features the So Sentimental Bundle from the 2020-21 Annual Catalog. It includes my favorite die set, Stitched So Sweetly, and the So Sentimental stamp set. I also used the woven Wrapped in Texture Embossing Folder from the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog which will go live for customers on August 4th.

This card was inspired by the one pictured on page 151 of the 2020-21 Annual Catalog. It’s changed up a bit. Enjoy!

The Paper

  • Seaside Spray Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11. scored at 4 1/4″
  • Bumblebee 2020-22 In Color DSP: 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Mint Macaron Cardstock: 2 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 3 3/4″ x 5″ and the second largest die from Stitched So Sweetly dies.

The Creating

  • Apply both confetti stamps from So Sentimental on a block. Stamp first and second generation around the edge of the Seaside Spray card base.
  • Stamp the sentiment on the die and repeat the confetti. Add Wink of Stella to the word Confetti.
  • Stamp the inside sentiment in Crushed Curry ink (or Bumblebee – I chose CC because it’s a little darker for the sentiment). Add the confetti in Seaside Spray.
  • Emboss the Mint Macaron strip. Remove 1/4″ horizontally and save for the inside of the card. Flag the wide strip with the Banner Triple Punch. Apply to the Bumblebee DSP with Liquid Glue and trip any extra overhang from the left.
  • Wrap the white faux linen ribbon from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack around the DSP and tie in a bow.
  • Pop the label with Stampin’ DImensionals.
  • Glue the decorated DSP to the card front.

  • Adhere the inside panel and top with the textured Mint Macaron strip across the bottom.

Stampin’ Up! Forever Fern Simply Stamped and Embossed Birthday Card

Tonight’s card is a simply stamped and embossed birthday card using products from the Forever Greenery suite of products, However, the star of the show is the new Just Jade 2020-22 In Color. Isn’t it lovely?

The Paper

  • Just Jade Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper: 1″ strip
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel and a 2 1/4″ x 1 5/16″ oval Stitched Shapes die cut.
  • Very Vanilla Medium Envelope

The Creating

  • Emboss the card front with the leafy embossing folder from the Greenery Embossing Folders.
  • Cut the 1″ DSP strip to 7/8″ and adhere to the card front. Save the remaining piece for the inside of the card.
  • Wrap the open weave ribbon from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack around the card and knot. This ribbon is awesome! It is buttery soft, so easy to work with and light to mail.
  • Use Just Jade Ink to stamp the sentiments on the Very Vanilla die cut, the inside panel and the leaf image on the inside panel and envelope.
  • Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the die cut on the card front. Tip: the pokey end of the Take Your Pick Tool is great for removing the release paper from the back of the dimensionals.
  • Add three Flowers for Every Season Gems with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. Tip: Place a small dot of glue where you want the adhesive to live and use the Take Your Pick putty tip to pick up the gem and place it on the adhesive.
  • Adhere the small leftover strip of DSP to the inside panel.

Stampin’ Up! Blossoms in Bloom Card for the Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome to the Inkin’ Krew Monthly Blog Hop! This month the Inkin’ Krew team is creating “Birthday” themed cards and I am featuring the Blossoms in Bloom bundle and the Many Mates stamp set from the new 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. It also showcases the new 2020-22 In Color products. Enjoy!

The Paper

  • Bumblebee Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″, 4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ for the large floral outline die from Many Layered Blossoms Dies.
  • Misty Moonlight Cardstock:  4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Whisper White Cardstock: two 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ panels (front & inside) and a scrap for the sentiment (3/8″ x 2 5/16″)
  • Vellum Cardstock: 4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ for a large floral outline die from Many Layered Blossoms Dies.

Creating the Card Front

  • Adhere the Whisper White panel to the card front and the Misty Moonlight panel on top.
  • Cut the large floral outline die from Many Layered Blossoms Dies from Vellum Cardstock using your die cutting machine. Adhere it to the Misty Moonlight layer with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. Tip: choose locations where the outline is thickest such as the leaf clusters and the floral centers.
  • Stamp the large blossom image from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set with VersaMark Ink onto Bumblebee Cardstock (at the time of the making the Bumblebee Ink was not yet available to order, but it is now and you could use it instead). Tip: for large stamps I like to use my Stamparatus. If a spot does not get enough even pressure to stamp clearly all you have to do is close the door and press where needed. It lines up perfectly and works great!
  • Line up the large floral outline die from Many Layered Blossoms Dies over the stamped image and die cut with your die cutting machine. Tip: I use washi tape to secure the die in place so that it doesn’t scoot as I apply it to the plates. Carefully remove the die, but leave the cut pieces in their place on your cutting plate. (Your Take Your Pick tool may come in handy here). This will serve as your pattern to layer your pieces. Tip: Australian Demonstrator, Kylie Bertucci, has a video on Paper Piecing using Press n Seal that you can view here. I tried it and found I stuck to the Press n Seal more than the paper did which led to rearrangement of my cut pieces. My talented team member, Mary Deatherage at Stamps-N-Lingers, had success with it though and you can view here video here. It may work great for you.
  • Do a dry fit to place the flower petals in place over the vellum outline die cut. Decide which petals you would like to be popped and apply Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop them up. Apply the others with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. Save the outline portion for the inside of the card.
  • Stamp the sentiment on a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock and apply it to a strip of Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon with Mini Glue Dots. Pop it on the card front with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Add 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots in Bumblebee.
So worth it for the added dimension! You can almost see them flutter in the breeze.

Decorating the Inside and Envelope

  • Stamp your sentiment on the inside Whisper White panel with Misty Moonlight Ink (this came early in the Paper Pumpkin Kit, yay!)
  • Adhere the left over Bumblebee outline floral die cut to the inside of the card and trim anything hanging over with Paper Snips.
  • Stamp a portion of the floral stamp on the envelope and add the floral centers. (I had to use Crushed Curry which is a little brighter and not as golden, but I recommend you use Bumblebee now that it’s available).

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the rest of the team’s projects! Click on Next Blog to visit Amy Koenders or Previous Blog for Terry Lynn Bright.
