Stampin’ Up! Timeless Tropical Birthday Card with Block Watercolor Stamping for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome to Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop for July! Today we are sharing “Celebrate Summer” projects. You will find links at the bottom of my post to hop you along the way to the other projects. Be sure to visit them all to see how each team member interpreted the theme. I hope you will enjoy what I made for you!

I used the Timeless Tropical Cling Stamp Set from the 2021 -2022 Annual Catalog (page 21) to make this Summer birthday card.  For me, nothing says summer more than a “beachy” sunset. The card is quite simple (no die cuts, embossing or Stampin’ Dimensionals) with the wow factor being the block watercolor stamping technique on Shimmer White Cardstock.

The Paper Cuts

  • Calypso Coral Cardstock: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ (card base)
  • Shimmer White Cardstock: two 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel (front and inside)
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ (front layer)

The Creating

I began by inking a size D Clear Block with a layer of Bumblebee Ink, Calypso Coral Ink and Misty Moonlight Ink. I then spritzed it with water from a Stampin’ Spritzer. Tip: I recommend holding the spritzer about 12″ from the block. You want to saturate the ink until it breaks up a little, but not so wet it runs. I pressed the block with the colors firmly on one of the Shimmer White panels. I hit it with my Heat Tool on the low setting to speed up the drying process. It needs to be completely dry before stamping the palm trees image in Tuxedo Black Ink.

I stamped the front sentiment and the inside sentiment as well as the palm trees on the inside panel and the Medium Basic White Envelope. I repeated the watercolor block stamping with a size H Clear Block to the inside panel. I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the layers to the card base. The Take Your Pick Tool putty tip was super handy to add three Matte Black Dots for embellishment.

I hope you will give this technique a try if you haven’t already. It’s fun and no two are alike. If you notice, this one has some watercolor speckles (they don’t show up much in the photos, but they are Calypso Coral and are quite nice on the actual card front).

Stampin’ Up! Batik Boutique Birthday Card for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome to Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop for June! Today we are sharing Birthday projects. You will find links at the bottom of my post to hop you along the way to the other projects. Be sure to visit them all to see how each team member interpreted the theme in what they made for you. I hope you will enjoy what I made!

I used the Batik Boutique Bundle from the 2021 -2022 Annual Catalog (page 114) to make this Happy Birthday card.  The Batik Boutique Photopolymer Stamp Set (11 stamps) and the Batik Dies (9 dies) are discounted 10% when purchased together (#158362).  The stamp set is Two-Step Stamping which means that there are stamps that fill in color inside of the outline stamps which is also why it is photopolymer to allow us to line the images up (and these line up super easy). At the end of the blog you can find links to all the products used in the making.

The Paper Cuts

  • Bumblebee Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″ (card base) and 3″ x 2 1/4″ (floral outline).
  • 2020-2022 In Color 6″x6″ Designer Series Paper Assortment (Bumblebee): 4″ x 5 1/4″ (front panel), 2″ x 2 1/4″ (scallop floral accent) and 4″ x 1/2″ (inside strip).
  • Night of Navy Cardstock: 2nd largest die cut from Stitched Rectangle Dies and 4″ x 2″ (floral detail).
  • Basic White Cardstock:  3nd largest die cut from Stitched Rectangle Dies and 4” x 5 1/4” (inside panel).
  • Misty Moonlight Cardstock:  4″ x 2″ (floral detail)
  • Pear Pizzazz Cardstock: 2″ x 2″ (leaves)

The Creating

I began by die cutting and assembling the floral image. I cut the large floral outline die in Bumblebee and the large detailed floral die and the tulip die in both Night of Navy and Misty Moonlight. I also cut the scallop floral accent die from Bumblebee DSP.

I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue and my Silicone Craft Sheet for all the adhering…first the navy outline to the yellow base, then the navy centers to the base just at the inside corner which allowed for some lift at the floral edge, and then the blue small accent pieces. The Take Your Pick Tool Putty Tip is super handy to maneuver the smaller pieces, or you could use the Press & Seal Method if you prefer. Once the glue was dry I used the pointy end of the Take Your Pick Tool to lift and curl the outer edges of the navy pieces for the dimension. Next I adhered the navy tulip outline to the yellow DSP, added the blue pieces and then added it to the larger portion (I did not line up the bottom edges of the two pieces, but placed the top one a little lower to allow more room for the petals to pop out).

With Pear Pizzazz Ink, I stamped the leaf outline image on Pear Pizzazz Cardstock and cut it out with the coordinating die. I added these to the floral image with Mini Glue Dots. I positioned the tag on the Basic White Stitched Rectangle die cut for spacing perspective and stamped the sentiments from Create With Friends Photopolymer Stamp Set (page 36, 17 stamps) with Night of Navy Ink

With Night of Navy Ink, I stamped he sentiment from Artistically Inked Cling Stamp Set (page 97,12 stamps) on the Basic White inside panel, and also added the floral outline stamp on the lower left corner and on the Basic White Medium Envelope. With Misty Moonlight Ink and Bumblebee Ink I stamped the coordinating 2nd Step images inside the floral outline. I added the DSP strip and the inside panel to the card base with liquid glue.

To complete the card front I added the DSP panel to the card base, and the white stitched rectangle to the navy stitched rectangle, with liquid glue. I popped the navy stitched rectangle and the floral tag up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added a Crushed Curry Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewel to the floral image (on the tulip) and three Night of Navy ones around the sentiment. So pretty!

Stampin’ Up! Berry Blessings Birthday Card

I have had so much fun playing with the Berry Blessings Photopolymer Stamp Set this evening. It is one of the 5 Jan – 28 Feb Sale-A-Bration items, is bundled with coordinating Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper, and is FREE with a $100 retail purchase. It is a Distinctive stamp set (different opacities built in), is designed for Two-Step Stampin’, has wide outlines which makes the images super easy to line up through the clear photopolymer for beautiful color without coloring! These products also coordinate with the Sweet Strawberry Bundle in the 2021 Jan-June Mini Catalog.

The Paper Cuts

  • Pacific Point Cardstock: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ (card base)
  • Shaded Spruce Cardstock: 5 9/16″ x 4″ (front) and the 3rd smallest Stitched Rectangle Dies.
  • Basic White Cardstock: 2nd smallest Stitched Rectangle Dies (front), and 2nd largest Stitches Rectangle Dies (front & inside).

The Creating

  • I randomly stamped the blueberry leaves outline stamp in First Generation Shaded Spruce Ink around the outside edges of one of the large Basic White die cuts. I followed with Second Generation Shaded Spruce Ink (stamp off on a scrap before going to your cardstock) to fill them in.
  • I then added the blueberries outline with First Generation Pacific Point Ink and the fill with Second Generation.
  • I repeated to add a single image to the inside Basic White die cut and the Basic White Envelope.
  • The sentiments are stamped in Pacific Point Ink. The inside greeting is from the Happy Thoughts Cling Stamp Set in the 2021 Jan-June Mini Catalog.
  • The layers are adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  • 3 Shaded Spruce Rhinestones from the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels give a little sparkle.

I hope you enjoyed this card. There are links down below for the products used.

Stampin’ Up! True Love Birthday Card for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome back to another Amy’s Inkin’ Krew blog hop!  This month we are all creating projects with a “Birthday” theme. My birthday card spotlights the True Love Designer Series Paper from the January – June 2021 Mini Catalog which is all beautiful patterns in black and white. Enjoy!

The Paper Cuts

  • True Love Designer Series Paper: largest rectangle die cut from Stitched Rectangle Dies, 5 1/4″ x 3/8″ (inside), 5 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ (envelope) and the colored and fussy cut flowers and leaves.
  • Rich Razzleberry Cardstock: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ (card base) and the 3rd largest scallop circle die cut from Layering Circles Dies.
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 5 1/4″ x 3 7/8″ and the “Happy” die from Word Wishes Dies.
  • Basic White Cardstock: 5 1/4″ x 4″ and the 4th largest smooth circle die cut from Layering Circles Dies.

The Creating

  • I used Rich Razzleberry Light and Dark Stampin’ Blends to color the floral images. I used Old Olive Light and Dark Stampin’ Blends to color the leaves and stem. I highlighted the floral centers with a shadow of Light Smokey Slate Stampin’ Blend. In total, there is a cluster of 3 flowers, a bud with a leaf and a separate flower and leaf to layer underneath. After coloring I fussy cut with Paper Snips leaving a narrow margin of white.
  • I aligned the “Happy” die cut on the white circle die cut and stamped “Birthday” from the Well Said Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Ink. I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the die cut above the stamped sentiment and to adhere the circles together.
  • I stamped the inside sentiment on the Basic White panel with Tuxedo Black Ink. I adhered the DSP strip and a fussy cut flower image with liquid glue. This flower was salvaged from the edge of the DSP and trimmed slightly with my Paper Trimmer to align with the edges of my panel.
  • The card was assembled with liquid glue with the exception of the large cluster of flowers which is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The envelope flap panel was trimmed with Paper Snips after adhering.
  • I colored 3 Rhinestone Basic Jewels with the Rich Razzleberry Dark Stampin’ Blend to embellish the card front.

Stampin’ Up! Wildly Happy Birthday Treat Tin

My Sister and Brother-in-Law are coming over tonight in celebration of his birthday. I made this cute gift tin filled with his favorite treats and representing his favorite team – The Alabama Crimson Tide. Our intent was a “tailgate” party to watching the Alabama vs LSU football game. You see, my husband went to LSU and the rest of us are Alabama Grads. Much to our chagrin, COVID has struck again, and our game has been cancelled. No worries, we’ll still get to enjoy each other’s company…a rare treat these days.

The Paper Cuts

  • Smoky Slate Cardstock: largest scalloped circle die cut from Layering Circles Dies.
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 2nd largest smooth circle die cut from Layering Circles Dies.
  • Wrapped in Plaid Designer Series Paper: largest smooth circle die cut from Layering Circles Dies.

The Creating

  • Stamp the elephants from the Wildly Happy Cling Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Ink on the Whisper White circle die cut on the left edge. Ink “Birthday” on the greeting from Blossoms in Bloom Photopolymer Stamp Set with Cherry Cobbler Ink and stamp it under the elephant’s ear. Ink “Happy” and stamp it above “Birthday”. Tip: If you prefer you can mask the words off with a PostIt or washi tape to ink and remove it to stamp.
  • Color the elephants with Light and Dark Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends. Add Light Soft Suede Stampin’ Blend to the ground.
  • Apply Cherry Cobbler Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
  • Write your message to the recipient on the back of the Smoky Slate scalloped circle die cut. This will show through the window of the tin when mounted.
  • Adhere the Wrapped in Plaid circle to the Smoky Slate circle with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. Pop the stamped circle on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere to the tin top with a couple of Mini Glue Dots to minimize visibility.

Plaid Tidings Birthday Card

This card features the Stitched Rectangle Dies and Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper. I love the clean lined design these dies make and it goes perfectly with the plaid. Plaid Tidings DSP makes creating simple because the color combinations are already in place. And, IT’S ON SALE UNTIL OCTOBER 31ST. You can purchase it here. Other DSP patterns on sale are listed at the end of the post.

The sunflower seeds were a happy accident. The greetings are from the Celebrate Sunflower Photopolymer Stamp Set and I happened to tuck the seed packet in the case at the beginning of summer. When it fell out on the paper it was a perfect match, so my friend is getting a bonus…she’ll love it!

The Paper Cuts

  • Bumblebee Cardstock: 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″ for the card base.
  • Melon Mambo Cardstock: largest Stitched Rectangle die cut and 1/2″ x 5″ strip for the inside.
  • Seaside Spray Cardstock: 3 3/4″ x 5″ panels for the inside and a 3 7/8″ x 1 3/8″ Stitched Rectangle die cut for the sentiment.
  • Plaid Tidings DSP: 3rd largest Stitched Rectangle die cut and 5 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ for the envelope flap.

The Creating

  • Use VersaMark ink to stamp the greetings from Celebrate Sunflowers on the smallest die cut and the inside panel. Sprinkle with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, remove excess and melt with the Heat Tool.
  • Use one edge of the larges Stitched Rectangle Die to add the stitch lines to the inside strip.
  • Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the layers with the exception of the front greeting. Pop it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Add 3 Bumblebee 2020-22 In Color Enamel Dots.
  • Use Paper Snips to trim excess DSP from the envelope flap.

Blossoms in Bloom Dimensional Birthday Card

This card features the Blossoms in Blooms Bundle and is sort of an “addendum” to the one posted on October 7th. It was stamped flowers with the delicate outline die cut adhered on top. Well, the petals that fell from the outline die were just too pretty to throw away, plus, I had centers left from this card. So…

The Paper Cuts

  • Cherry Cobbler Cardstock: Many Layered Blooms floral outline die cut (4 3/4″ x 5″).
  • Crushed Curry Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11, scored at 5 1/2″ for the card base and the Many Layered Blooms floral outline die cut (4 3/4″ x 5″).
  • Whisper White Cardstock: two 4″ x 5 1/4″ panels for the front and inside, and 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ for the sentiment.

The Creating

  • Lay the metal die upside down on your work surface. Place the petals back in their original location (like putting a puzzle back together, but easier). The backs of the petals will be facing up toward you. Apply Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive on the backs of 3 of the petals in each flower. Press a Whisper White panel on top and allow the glue to set a minute. Lift up gently, leaving the other 2 petals of each flower in place.
  • Apply Stampin’ Dimensionals on the remaining 2 petals of each flower. Remove the backing and place them on the card where they belong using the other 3 as a guide. The dimensional effect you get is worth the effort! (It’s much more dramatic than the flattened photography shows).
  • Use Paper Snips to trim the flower centers from the Crushed Curry die cut. (Save the flower outline to use on other projects). Adhere inside the petals.
  • With Cherry Cobbler ink stamp “Happy Birthday” on the 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ of Whisper White and flag the ends with the Banner Triple Punch. Pop up on the card front with 3-4 Stampin’ Dimensionals. Add 3 Cherry Cobbler Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
  • On the Whisper White panel for the inside stamp the Blossom in Blooms image (partial) in Cherry Cobbler ink overhanging the bottom edge. Repeat on the envelope flap. Stamp the Crushed Curry centers.
  • The inside greeting is from the Many Mates stamp set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler.
Tip: When stamping large stamps and/or dark ink colors on light paper use the Stamparatus so you can do two or three layers of ink to get the depth you are looking for.

Stampin’ Up! Pattern Play Stamparatus Birthday Card

The star of this card is unseen by the recipient…it’s the Stamparatus. The Stamparatus is what affords the crisp, evenly spaced images from the Pattern Play photopolymer stamp set with the Hinge Technique. Stampin’ Up! CEO Sarah Douglas made a Facebook Live Video illustrating the technique.

There is also a pictorial on page 55 of the Stampin’ Up! 2020-21 Annual Catalog.

The Paper Cuts

  • Blackberry Bliss Cardstock: a cardbase cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″, and a 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ strip for the sentiment.
  • Whisper White Cardstock: two 5 1/4″ x 4″ panels for the card front and the inside

Other pluses to the Stamparatus: You can re-stamp an image a second time if there is missing pressure on a large image or a faint impression with a dark ink. If you have arthritis in your hands, the Stamparatus can be easier to manipulate that the acrylic blocks.

The Creating

Use the Stamparatus Hinge Technique – every other hinge – to stamp the following on the front panel.

  • Stripe image with Cherry Cobbler ink
  • Dot image with Crushed Curry ink
  • “Fill the day…” image with Blackberry Bliss ink

Repeat the above on the Whisper White Medium Envelope flap.

Add the stripe and the dots on the bottom of the inside panel as well as the “Cue the Confetti” sentiment in Blackberry Bliss Ink.

Use Versamark ink to stamp the “Today is all about you!” image from the Many Mates stamp set on the strip of Blackberry Bliss cardstock. Sprinkle with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and set with the Heat Tool. Use the Banner Triple Punch to flag the left end. Pop on the card front with 3 Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finish with 3 Cherry Cobbler Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
