Stampin’ Up! Honey Bee Punched Heart Card

I tried to stay away…honest I did. I love these bees. Tonight I made a simple birthday card. Enjoy!

I began with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Whisper White Thick Cardstock scored at 5 1/2″. I cut a piece of Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper (from Sale-A-Bration, free with $50 order) at 4″ x 5 1/4″. I used the smooth edged Heart Punch from the Heart Punch Pack in the Jan-Jun 2020 Mini Catalog.

I stamped the larger bee and the sentiment from the Honey Bee set in Momento Tuxedo Black on a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock. I colored the bee with Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend and added Wink of Stella to his wings. I die cut the bee and the hive from a scrap of Crushed Curry Cardstock. I cut the sentiment close with scissors and used the Triple Banner Punch on the ends. I cut a few pieces of the hive off to adhere to the card front. To do that, I aligned the DSP with even borders and used a light pencil mark to indicate the edges where I wanted to place the hive cut outs. To adhere them, I placed a thin layer of liquid adhesive on my silicone mat and touched the back of the pieces to it, then added it to my card using the pencil marks as a guide. Once dry, I erased the pencil marks.

I adhered the DSP with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I also used a dimensional on the right wing of the bee to position him “hovering” over the heart and on the sentiment banner. I used liquid adhesive to add some “honey” to the comb (tweezers were handy) on the front and on a strip on the inside. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the “Happy Birthday to You” set from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure which is free with a $50 purchase.

Paper Pumpkin Something for Everything Alternatives – Final

Thank you for sticking with me for multiple Paper Pumpkin Alternative posts. Tonight will be the final one, although as you will see at the end, I still have a good quantity of supplies left. Enough to make the 3 included cards or 6-7 alternatives. It’s a great value at $22 a kit and includes a stamp set and ink that can continue to be used. Tomorrow is a great time to subscribe (you have to the 10th of the month prior to the kit you want) because Sale-A-Bration begins and there are free, exclusive items for every $50 retail spent. More on that tomorrow!

I started with the 3 kit cards cut in half and then added card bases (Whisper White and Crushed Curry), a little dry embossing (Woodland and Scripty folders), die cutting (Stitched Shapes Dies) the Triple Banner Punch (2″ strips) and a little ink (Old Olive and Shaded Spruce).

The side strips on cards 3 and 4 are just left over 1/4″ strips that were trimmed from the original card front/back. The gold accent pieces on card 6 are the leftover pieces left on the release paper after the gold swirly image was peeled up.

On the insides, additional 1/4″ strips were used. The gold on card 6 was trimmed from the edge of the gold sticker sheet with the Paper Trimmer.

These are the supplies still left. I still have plenty left to make the 3 kit cards or 6-7 alternatives.

So far, that’s 17 cards. A little more than $1. 30 a card. And, I love that I’m stocked and ready to go with birthday, sympathy, and thank you cards. No driving to the store and paying a lot. And they turned out beautiful! I hope it’s inspired you to be creative. That’s what Paper Pumpkin is for me….creativity in a box! There are links at the bottom to guide you to the subscription information. If you have any questions about the subscription or the cards, please feel free to contact me at stampdabbles@gmail.com. If you prefer a real, live voice conversation just email me your number and I’ll give you a call.

Paper Pumpkin Something for Everything Alternatives

Here are two more alternative designs using the December Paper Pumpkin Kit called Something for Everything. My goals were to: 1) use the flower stamp from the stamp set and 2)make easy designs for beginner stampers. Thanks for joining in and I hope you enjoy the cards.

I started with the cute 3-flower stamp and decided to use it for a background.

  • I added a Whisper White card base and 3.75″ x 2″ scrap.
  • I used Crushed Curry Ink because I had a left over Crushed Curry Rectangle Die Cut on my desk that fit the design well. You could just as easily use the TerraCotta Tile Ink and a straight cut rectangle using the TerraCotta side of an included card.
  • I stamped the flower image and the happy birthday in first and second generations randomly.
  • I used a round flat make-up brush to add some ink to the edges of the cards, blending into the center of the Whisper White pieces.
  • I colored the Whisper White Polka Dot Ribbon by pulling it across the Crushed Curry Ink Pad.
  • The 3 raised flowers were fussy cut and adhered with half Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment layer is also raised with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I added the small Gold Glitter Enamel Dots to the flower centers because I wanted something smaller than the ones that came with the kit, but you could use them.

The inside message is stamped first generation and the flowers second generation.

  • I added a Whisper White card base and a 2″ strip of Crushed Curry Designer Series Paper for this card. The polka dot paper is from the patterned half of a card in the kit and it is also 2″. Both are punched on one end with the Triple Banner Punch.
  • The green circle, rhinestones and banner tag are from the kit.
  • The banner tag is raised with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Minimal pieces used for these two cards. I know there is more Stampin’ FUN in store.

Stampin’ Up! Beautiful You Birthday Card – Take 2

The card I made last night just didn’t sit well with me. Does that every happen to you? In the midst of a “present” husband and a sick dog, I just needed to get it posted. Well, today I ripped it apart and now it feels much better to me! 😉

THE CUTTING

  • Very Vanilla Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″; two 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″
  • Lovely Lipstick Cardstock: 4 3/4″ x 3″; two 4 7/8″ x 3 3/8″
  • Watercolor Paper: 2 1/4″ x 3 1/2″

THE CREATING

  • I stamped the lady in Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I watercolored her dress and hat with Lovely Lipstick Ink with an Aqua Painter. I used Soft Suede for her hair and Petal Pink really watered down for her skin.
  • I used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut the Watercolor Paper layer, the Lovely Lipstick top layer and the two Very Vanilla layers.
  • I stamped the sentiments in Lovely Lipstick ink.
  • I used the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder on one of the two Very Vanilla layers for the card front.
  • I raised the top Lovely Lipstick layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The other pieces are adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
  • I applied Wink of Stella to the Water the raised embossed words (only the parts showing) and “birthday” on the inside.
  • I added 3 Pearl Basic Jewels.
