Stampin’ Up! Timeless Tropical Birthday Card with Block Watercolor Stamping for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome to Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop for July! Today we are sharing “Celebrate Summer” projects. You will find links at the bottom of my post to hop you along the way to the other projects. Be sure to visit them all to see how each team member interpreted the theme. I hope you will enjoy what I made for you!

I used the Timeless Tropical Cling Stamp Set from the 2021 -2022 Annual Catalog (page 21) to make this Summer birthday card.  For me, nothing says summer more than a “beachy” sunset. The card is quite simple (no die cuts, embossing or Stampin’ Dimensionals) with the wow factor being the block watercolor stamping technique on Shimmer White Cardstock.

The Paper Cuts

  • Calypso Coral Cardstock: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ (card base)
  • Shimmer White Cardstock: two 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel (front and inside)
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ (front layer)

The Creating

I began by inking a size D Clear Block with a layer of Bumblebee Ink, Calypso Coral Ink and Misty Moonlight Ink. I then spritzed it with water from a Stampin’ Spritzer. Tip: I recommend holding the spritzer about 12″ from the block. You want to saturate the ink until it breaks up a little, but not so wet it runs. I pressed the block with the colors firmly on one of the Shimmer White panels. I hit it with my Heat Tool on the low setting to speed up the drying process. It needs to be completely dry before stamping the palm trees image in Tuxedo Black Ink.

I stamped the front sentiment and the inside sentiment as well as the palm trees on the inside panel and the Medium Basic White Envelope. I repeated the watercolor block stamping with a size H Clear Block to the inside panel. I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the layers to the card base. The Take Your Pick Tool putty tip was super handy to add three Matte Black Dots for embellishment.

I hope you will give this technique a try if you haven’t already. It’s fun and no two are alike. If you notice, this one has some watercolor speckles (they don’t show up much in the photos, but they are Calypso Coral and are quite nice on the actual card front).

Stampin’ Up! Art Gallery Spring Card for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome to Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop for March! Today we are sharing “Celebrate Spring” projects. You will find links at the bottom of my post to hop you along the way to the projects. Be sure to check out all of our talented team members projects to see how they interpreted the theme and what they have made for you!

I used the Art Gallery Photopolymer Stamp Set from the 2021 January to June Mini Catalog (with a few other select stamps and dies) to make a Thinking of You Card with bright Spring colors and flowers that would brighten anyone’s day! There are links to the products used at the end of the blog. I hope you enjoy the card!

The Paper Cuts

  • Basic White Thick Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″ (card base), largest Stitched Rectangle Dies die cut, and the middle Stitched Shapes Dies circle die cut.
  • Garden Green Cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″

The Creating

  • I began by tracing the outline of the Stitched Shapes Dies medium circle onto the center of the Stitched Rectangles Dies die cut lightly with a pencil. This provided me with a stamping guide to know what would and what wouldn’t show from beneath the actual mounted die cut.
  • I then used Magenta Madness Ink to ink the top three flowers on the largest floral stamp in the Art Gallery Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped it once at the top and once at the bottom of the circle.
  • Using Gorgeous Grape Ink, I stamped the double floral image from the Art Gallery Photopolymer Stamp Set once on the left and once on the right of the circle.
  • With Bumblebee Ink, I added four of the small floral image from the Art Gallery Photopolymer Stamp Set in between the purple and pink images.
  • I then stamped the tiny flower from Blossoms in Bloom Photopolymer Stamp Set (2020-22 Annual Catalog) with Seaside Spray Ink.
  • Finally I added the double leaf image from Beautiful Friendship Photopolymer Stamp Set (2020-22 Annual Catalog) in Garden Green Ink.
  • With Garden Green Ink, I stamped the “Thinking of You” sentiment from the Blossoms in Bloom Photopolymer Stamp Set centered inside the Stitched Shapes Dies circle die cut. I also stamped the greeting from the Happy Thoughts Cling Stamp Set on the inside of the card base.
  • I repeated the flowers on the inside of the card and on the envelope flap. Don’t you love a matching set?
  • To assemble the card front I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the stamped Stitched Rectangle to the Garden Green panel and then both to the card base. I erased the pencil marks and then popped the Stitched Shapes die cut on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • To embellish, I added three Magenta Madness 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots.

Stampin’ Up! True Love Birthday Card for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome back to another Amy’s Inkin’ Krew blog hop!  This month we are all creating projects with a “Birthday” theme. My birthday card spotlights the True Love Designer Series Paper from the January – June 2021 Mini Catalog which is all beautiful patterns in black and white. Enjoy!

The Paper Cuts

  • True Love Designer Series Paper: largest rectangle die cut from Stitched Rectangle Dies, 5 1/4″ x 3/8″ (inside), 5 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ (envelope) and the colored and fussy cut flowers and leaves.
  • Rich Razzleberry Cardstock: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ (card base) and the 3rd largest scallop circle die cut from Layering Circles Dies.
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 5 1/4″ x 3 7/8″ and the “Happy” die from Word Wishes Dies.
  • Basic White Cardstock: 5 1/4″ x 4″ and the 4th largest smooth circle die cut from Layering Circles Dies.

The Creating

  • I used Rich Razzleberry Light and Dark Stampin’ Blends to color the floral images. I used Old Olive Light and Dark Stampin’ Blends to color the leaves and stem. I highlighted the floral centers with a shadow of Light Smokey Slate Stampin’ Blend. In total, there is a cluster of 3 flowers, a bud with a leaf and a separate flower and leaf to layer underneath. After coloring I fussy cut with Paper Snips leaving a narrow margin of white.
  • I aligned the “Happy” die cut on the white circle die cut and stamped “Birthday” from the Well Said Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Ink. I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the die cut above the stamped sentiment and to adhere the circles together.
  • I stamped the inside sentiment on the Basic White panel with Tuxedo Black Ink. I adhered the DSP strip and a fussy cut flower image with liquid glue. This flower was salvaged from the edge of the DSP and trimmed slightly with my Paper Trimmer to align with the edges of my panel.
  • The card was assembled with liquid glue with the exception of the large cluster of flowers which is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The envelope flap panel was trimmed with Paper Snips after adhering.
  • I colored 3 Rhinestone Basic Jewels with the Rich Razzleberry Dark Stampin’ Blend to embellish the card front.
