Stampin’ Up! Abstract Impressions Christmas Thank You

Tonight I made a simple Christmas Thank You card with the Abstract Impressions stamp set. It is just very versatile!

THE CUTTING

  • Cherry Cobbler Cardstock: 5 1/2″ x 11″ scored at 4 1/4″
  • Shaded Spruce Cardstock: 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 5″ x 3 3/4″, 5″ x 3 1/2″ for inside, and a 3″ x 1″ for the sentiment.

THE CREATING

  • I used the 3 rose images in first and second generation stamping with Cherry Cobbler Ink.
  • I used 3 of the leaf images in first and second generation stamping with Shaded Spruce Ink.
  • I stamped Thank You in Shaded Spruce.
  • I used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut the Shaded Spruce layer, Whisper White inside layer and the sentiment layer.
  • I applied Wink of Stella to the first generation rose images and to the “wispy” second generation leaves.
  • I raised the sentiment and the Shaded spruce layer with Stampin Dimensionals. The other pieces are adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Stampin’ Up! Abstract Impressions Cards

Can you believe these two cards are from the same stamp set? I love the versatility. The wreath design was inspired by Julie DiMateo at thepaperpixie.com. She used a template for her design. I’m much less technical and appreciate shortcuts, as you will see below.

THE CUTTING

  • Cherry Cobbler Cardstock: 5 1/2″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″ and 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″.
  • Gold Foil: 5″ x 5″ (you can cut the center out to use for another project)
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 4″ x 4″

THE CREATING

I placed my 4×4 cardstock on the grid paper of the Stamparatus about an inch away from the hinged edge and marked where the right two corners were. I stamped, then rotated my cardstock a quarter turn in a diamond position and stamped. Then rotated a quarter turn back to square, lining up the corners on the marks. Continue around. On the last image I did need to slightly adjust the cardstock so that the image lined up exactly between the two on either side, but it was just a smidge. I used a block to put the second generation images between the first generation ones done on the Stamparatus.

I ran the Gold Foil through the Big Shot with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder (be sure to have your words in the right direction, don’t ask how I know). I added a Gold Shimmer bow and Gold Enamel Dots. I made a second one with Red Rhinestones. (And to make sure my stamping “system” wasn’t just a streak of good luck, lol).

Christmas Nugget Purses

Saturday I am going to an event for Alabama Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators. I’m looking forward to meeting them (my team is in NJ). The project I made tonight is for the Demonstrator swap. I have to say, these treat purses are sooo stinkin’ cute! If you haven’t tried this one, you should! They are easy, don’t take many supplies (5 per cardstock) and would make great party favors, and includes chocolate. I hope you enjoy it!

THE CUTTING

Cherry Cobbler Cardstock:

  • 2″ x 6″, scored with long side up (6″ across) at 1 1/2″, 2 7/8″, 4 1/2″, 4 3/4″
  • 6″ x 1/4″, scored at 1″ and 5″ (from long side, 6″) for purse handle.

Designer Series Paper of Choice:

  • 1 1/4″ x 2″ for purse front
  • 1″ x 3″ to wrap nuggets

Whisper White or Very Vanilla Cardstock (depending on DSP):

  • 1 3/16″ x 11/16″ Stitched Rectangle Thinlet for sentiment.

THE CREATING

  • Burnish scored marks.
  • Adhere 1 1/4″ x 2″ DSP with Liquid Adhesive to the rectangle of the 4 1/2″ and 4 3/4″ score lines.
  • Cut the outside edge of the DSP/Cardstock with the Christmas Rose large tag thinlet. Be careful to only run the one side through the pressure point of the Big Shot.
  • Wrap two nuggets in the 1″ x 3″ DSP, adhering edge with Liquid Adhesive.
  • Use a bone folder to curve the handle. Adhere the handle ends to the inside 1/4″ score using Liquid Adhesive.
  • Stamp sentiment on the Stitched Rectangle cut out in Cherry Cobbler Ink. Adhere with Liquid Adhesive to the inside as shown.
  • Adhere the nuggets with Mini Glue DOTS,
  • I used 3/8″ Thin Clear Velco Fasteners (purchased from Amazon) as a closure. I cut them in half.
  • Apply a rhinestone or stampin epoxy embellishment to the purse front.

Stampin’ Up! Still Scenes Snowy Embossed Card

I saw a neat technique over at Connie Stewart’s Simply Stamping. She used clear packing tape to adhere glitter for a card front. I had to give it a try and so should you! It’s an easy, creative way to add a little sparkle. Have fun!

THE CUTTING

  • Cherry Cobbler Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ for the card base.
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 4 x 5 1/4″ for the front layer, 2 1/2″ x 1 1/4″ for the front tag and 4″ x 5 1/4″ for the inside layer. A 2 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ scrap for the house scene.
  • Wrapped In Plaid DSP: 3″ x 5 1/4″ and a 1/2″ x 4″ strip for the inside.

THE CREATING

  • Stamp the Still Scene house in VersaMark on the scrap white paper. Sprinkle with Gold Embossing Powder and set with the Heat Tool. Color the image with the Stampin’ Blends. Apply Snowfall Accents Puff Paint to the snowy areas: tree, bush, roof and yard. Puff with the Heat Tool.
  • Die Cut the Still Scenes image and the Rectangle Stitched label (2 3/8″).
  • Use the Scripty Embossing Folder to emboss the white front layer.
  • I stamped “PEACE” from the November Paper Pumpkin Kit in Shaded Spruce centered on the white label. You could use another message of your choice.
  • Stamp the sentiment on the Whisper White inside layer in Shaded Spruce. You can use a sentiment of your choice. I used one from the Christmas Rose Stamp Set.
  • Punch the 2 1/4″ circle from the bottom third of the DSP.

The Technique

  • Tear off a piece of clear packing tape the size of the circle. Fit the die cut house scene inside the circle in the desired position. It will go on top of the tape. Adhere the tape to the back of the DSP strip and the house scene.
  • Apply the Ice Stampin’ Glitter to the tape and pressing it in to secure it well. TIP: I use a piece of computer paper folded in half and opened again under my card to catch the excess which can then easily be poured back into your container for future use.
  • I adhered the dry embossed layer to the card and the white tag to the DSP with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to raise the DSP layer. I adhered the inside layers with the liquid adhesive.
