Stampin’ Up! Handsomely Suited Father’s Day Card for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome to Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop for May! Today we are sharing projects “for the men/boys”. You will find links at the bottom of my post to hop you along the way to the other projects. Be sure to visit them all to see how each team member interpreted the theme in what they made for you!

I used the Handsomely Suited Bundle from the 2021 January to June 2021 Mini Catalog (page 67) to make a Happy Father’s Day card for my Father-In-Law.   The Handsomely Suited Cling Stamp Set (9 stamps) and the Suit & Tie Dies (14 dies) are discounted 10% when purchased together (#156240) until June 30, 2021 (11:50 pm MT).  Thereafter, they will only be available to order individually through the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog (page 50 and 156) at full cost.  At the end of the blog there are links to all the products used in the making. I hope you enjoy!

The Paper Cuts

  • Misty Moonlight Cardstock: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ (card base) and 1”x1” (button die from Suite & Tie Dies)
  • Smoky Slate Cardstock: 4” x 6” (largest die cut from Stitched Rectangle Dies)
  • Basic White Cardstock:  3 1/2” x 5” (2nd largest die cut from Stitched Rectangle Dies), and 4” x 5 1/4” (inside panel)
  • Vellum Cardstock:  6” x 1/2” (thin rectangle die – “suspenders” –  from Suite & Tie Dies)

The Creating

I began by die cutting the two Stitched Rectangle Dies and the two Suit & Tie Dies.

With Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, I stamped the three ties on the Basic White stitched die cut and on the Basic White Medium EnvelopeTIP:  I found it easiest way to get the ties straight and even was to use my Stamparatus.  The grid on the clear door helped me ensure the ties were straight up and down.  I used Hinge-Step stamping to get them level and equally spaced:  I lined up and stamped the first one with the door in position and then moved the door down a hinge for the 3rd one which then allowed the center one to be lined up and stamped in the middle.

I also used the Stamparatus and Tuxedo Black Ink to stamp the inside greeting and tie (at the same time).  I decided to let my Mother-In-Law be the one to tell my Father-In-Law he is handsome, so I masked off the bottom line with a Post It Note. Just remember to remove it once you’ve inked and before you stamp!

I stamped the sentiment on the center of the Vellum die cut and dried it with my Heat Tool (because I’m not patient enough to wait for it to dry).

I colored the ties with Light and Dark Stampin’ Blends Combos in Smoky Slate and Misty Moonlight.  I chose to shade the right side of the ties.  TIP:  place a scrap piece of paper inside the envelope to prevent bleed through.

With Multipurpose Liquid Glue I adhered the stamped stitched rectangle to the Smoky Slate one.  I wrapped the Vellum die cut around these layers and secured them on the back with tape.  I added the button embellishments (I wish you could see the cute thread detail in the picture) with Mini Glue Dots and the putty end of my Take Your Pick Tool.  With my Take Your Pick Tool, I slid a Mini Glue Dot underneath the vellum where the left and right buttons are (so the glue dot is hidden) to secure the sentiment closer and more securely to the cardstock.  I popped these layers on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stampin’ Up! Handsomely Suited Bowtie Birthday Card

This card is made with the Handsomely Suited Bundle from the January to June 2021 Mini Catalog. It’s the perfect set for masculine cards. If you buy the bundle (Item 156240) by June 30th you will save 10% on the Handsomely Suited Stamp Set and Suit & Tie Dies. They are both carrying over to the 2021-22 Annual Catalog, but will not be bundled anymore. I hope you enjoy the card! It would also make a great graduation card for a young man or a Father’s Day card (with different sentiments, of course).

The Paper Cuts

  • Night of Navy Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ (card base)
  • Pear Pizzazz Cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″ (front panel), 2 1/2″ x 3/4″ (sentiment strip) and 2″ x 1″ (tie die)
  • Basic White Cardstock: 4 7/8″ x 3 3/4″ (front) and a 5 1/4″ x 4″ panel (inside)

The Creating

  • I stamped the polka-dot bowtie from the Handsomely Suited Stamp Set on Pear Pizzazz Cardstock with Night of Navy Ink and ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the coordinating die from Suit & Tie Dies.
  • I stamped the birthday sentiment from the Handsomely Suited Stamp Set on the strip of Pear Pizzazz Cardstock with Night of Navy Ink. I used the Triple Banner Punch to flag the left end.
  • With Night of Navy Ink I stamped the 3 bowties on the envelope flap and across the bottom of the inside panel. I added the memorable birthday greeting from Timeless Tropical Stamp Set to the inside panel.
  • With my Stamparatus and Night of Navy Ink, I stamped the bowtie image in rows (every two hinges) in order to line them up.
  • With Multipurpose Liquid Glue, I adhered the panels to the card front and inside. I also added the birthday banner to the front. I popped up the Pear Pizzazz die cut bowtie with Stampin’ Dimensionals over one of the stamped bowties.

Stampin’ Up! Handsomely Dressed Bowtie Birthday Card

I used the Handsomely Dressed Bundle from the January – June 2021 Mini Catalog to make this card. The original design is from Demonstrator, Tina Rappe at the stampinstudio.com, but I put a different twist on the colors. I live in a State where crimson and gray are cherished 😉 Do you know where the Designer Series Paper is from? You will find instructions and all the links for the supplies I used below.

The Paper Cuts

  • Basic White Thick Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″scored at 5 1/2″ (card base)and the 2nd largest circle die from Stitched Shapes Dies
  • Real Red Cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel and 1 3/4″ x 1″ (to die cut the bowtie)
  • Playful Pets Designer Series Paper: 3 3/4″ x 2″ (top panel)
  • Peony Garden Designer Series Paper: 3 3/4″ x 3″ (bottom panel), 4 1/8″ x 1/2″ (inside) and 5 3/4″ x 2 3/8″ (envelope flap)
  • Basic Gray Cardstock: 2nd largest smooth edged circle die cut from Layering Circles Dies.

The Creating

  • With Tuxedo Black Ink, stamp the birthday greeting from Handsomely Suited Stamp Set on the stitched circle die cut. Also stamp the bowtie on the smaller Real Red piece of cardstock and die cut it with the coordinating die from Suit and Tie Dies. I adhered this to the stitched circle with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  • Adhere the two DSP panels to the larger Real Red panel. I wrapped a 5″ piece of Black/White Baker’s Twine from Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack between the panels and secured with tape on the back. I then used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere to the card front.
  • I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop the decorated circle die cut to the card.
  • The inside greeting from Happy Thoughts Stamp Set is stamped in Basic Gray Ink.
  • I adhered the small DSP strip to the inside of the card and the larger to the envelope flap, trimming the excess away with my Paper Snips.
