Stampin’ Up! Celebrate Sunflowers Gift Box for the Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome to the Inkin’ Krew Monthly Blog Hop! This month the Inkin’ Krew team theme is “Celebrate Summer.” I am featuring the Celebrate Sunflowers bundle from the 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. Large, brightly colored sunflowers stretching toward the sun make me think of warm summer days. Enjoy!

I decorated a Gold Mini Pizza Box with the large sunflower to hold four (4) 3″x3″ note cards and envelopes. These small cards are great for leaving quick notes on someone’s door if they are not home or for giving tips with a note of appreciation (i.e., the shampoo assistant at the salon).

The Paper

  • Misty Moonlight DSP: 3″ square and four 2 12/16″ squares.
  • Whisper White Cardstock:  approx 4″ x 11″ (large sunflower die cut, two leaf dies , four small sunflower dies) and four 3″ x 6″ pieces, scored at 3″.
  • Crushed Curry Cardstock: four 2 5/8″ squares and four 1/8″ x 2 5/8″ strips (I had these because I decided to cut my first Crushed Curry squares down 1/8″ which turned out to be super cute for the inside.)
  • Gold Foil Sheet: approx 3 1/4″ square
  • Whisper White 3″ x 3″ Envelopes: four (4)

The Creating

  • Stamp the large sunflower, two leaves, and 4 small sunflowers on Whisper White cardstock with Tuxedo Black ink. Color them with the Stampin’ Blends in the Product List below.
  • Cut the colored images out with the coordinating dies.
  • Cut the sunflower outline die from the Gold Foil Sheet.
  • Adhere the larger Misty Moonlight DSP square to the Gold Pizza Box. Adhere the leaves. Pop the large sunflower on with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Top with the gold foil outline and add 3 Gold Glitter Enamel Dots to the center.
  • Emboss the Crushed Curry square with the leafy Greenery embossing folder.
  • Adhere the Misty Moonlight DSP to the card front. Add the embossed layer.
  • Add a strip of Stampin’ Seal adhesive where the small sunflower will rest on the embossed panel. Wrap Misty Moonlight/Silver Bakers Twine around 3 fingers 2-3 times and snip. Bring together in the center and place on the Stampin’ Seal on the card front. Loosen as desired (each one of mine ends up different…don’t stress).
  • Pop the small sunflower on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Card Inside and Envelope

  • Stamp the sentiment on the inside of the Whisper White cards with Misty Moonlight ink. This one is from Many Mates.
  • Add the small Crushed Curry strip with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
  • Stamp the small sunflower on the envelopes with Crushed Curry ink.

Place your cards and envelopes in the pizza box. I chose to nestle them in tissue paper.

Tie up with Misty Moonlight 2020-22 In Color 1/4″ Ribbon if you desire. It’s not needed to hold the box closed, but it sure will make someone feel special about their gift!

Stampin’ Up! Jar of Flowers Thinking of You Card

Here is a sneak peak of what’s inside the upcoming Stampin’ Up! 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. This card used the Jar of Flowers and Many Mates stamp sets which will be available for customers to order on June 3rd. It also used the new 2020-2022 In Color Misty Moonlight Cardstock and 6×6 DSP. The inspiration for the design is on page 10 of the catalog. Enjoy!

The Paper Cuts

  • Misty Moonlight Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″ card base scored at 5 1/2″ and a 3 3/8″ x 4 5/8″ panel.
  • 2020-2022 In Color DSP: 4″ x 5 1/4″ and a 3/4″ x 5″ strip
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 3 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ and 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Shaded Spruce Cardstock: 2 1/8″ x 5/8″ scrap

The Creating

  • Adhere te DSP panel to the card front.
  • Stamp the floral image in Tuxedo Black on the Whisper White 3 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ panel. Also stamp it on a PostIt Note catching the sticky edge at the bottom. Trim around the bottom edge on the black stamped line. This will be your mask. It will make the flowers look like they are inside the jar instead of the jar on top of the flowers when you stamp the jar 😉
  • Stamp the jar in Basic Gray Ink with the mask in place as shown above. (I first tried Tuxedo Black, but it came out very dark and I wanted it to be lighter since it is glass).
  • Add the flower stem image with Basic Gray Ink with the mask still in place. Now you can remove it! Taadaa!
  • Color the flower and stems with Stampin’ Blends Combos: Light Seaside Spray, Flirty Flamingo and Call Me Clover. I also used Light Smoky Slate in layers with Light Call Me Clover and Light Seaside Spray for the sprig that looks like Eucalyptus. Don’t be afraid to mix colors 🙂
  • Add Wink of Stella to the reflection marks on the jar.
  • Adhere the colored floral panel to the Misty Moonlight panel.
  • Tie a piece of the Flowers for Every Season Twine around the two panels and tie in a bow. I knotted the end to ensure the three layers didn’t untwist (as in the catalog). Adhere to the DSP on the card front.
  • Rub the Shaded Spruce scrap with the Embossing Buddy to prevent static. Stamp with the sentiment in VersaMark, sprinkle with White Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.
  • Adhere to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Trim if necessary.
  • Add 3 Flowers for Every Season Gems with Mini Glue Dots.
  • Stamp the sentiment on the inside panel with Misty Moonlight Ink and adhere to the inside of the cards. Adhere the DSP strip to the bottom edge.
