Stampin’ Up! Butterfly Brilliance Collection Birthday Card

Confession…I’m not especially fond of butterflies. Pleasant surprise….I love the new Butterfly Brilliance Collection. The images in the Butterfly Brilliance Stamp are beautifully detailed and varied, plus they have soft lines and shading which create wonderful depth and coloring. The Brilliant Wings Dies coordinate to cut 1 to 6 (at once) butterflies either stamped or from the awesome Butterfly Bijou 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. The stamp and die bundle is carrying over into the new 2021-22 Annual Catalog, but the beautiful DSP is only available until May 3rd. Details are at the end of the post. I hope you enjoy the card! Happy Easter to you and yours!

The Paper Cuts

  • Basic White Thick Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″ (card base) and 2 1/4″ x 1 3/4″ (label)
  • Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper: 4″ x 5 1/4″ (front), 5 3/4″ x 2 3/8″ (env), 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ (inside), and the die cut butterfly.

The Creating

  • With Just Jade Ink, I stamped the Happy Birthday from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set on the small white cardstock and then passed it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the die from Tasteful Labels Dies.
  • I cut the Just Jade butterfly from the Butterfly Bijou DSP with the coordinating die from the Brilliant Wings Dies.
  • I stamped the inside greeting from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set with Just Jade Ink.
  • I adhered the front DSP panel, the stamped label, the DSP strip, and the larger strip to the envelope flap with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I used my Paper Snips to trim the excess paper from the envelope flap.
  • The butterfly is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The putty end of the Take Your Pick Tool helped me lift and place 3 Pearl Basic Jewels to embellish the card front.

THE CARD

The talented and awesome, Amy Koenders of http://www.stampwithamyk.com designer this card and shared it with us to make at our Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team Meeting and we stamped together! To make it we used the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle (Butterfly Brilliance Cling Stamp Set and Brilliant Wings Dies). It is an early release from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog and is amazing! You can find a link to all the details for the Butterfly Bouquet Collection below. If you’d like to join our team, I’d love to talk to you about it! There is also information at the Starter Kit quick link under the signature below.

The Paper Cuts

  • Bermuda Bay Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ (card base)
  • Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper (Bermuda Bay geometric): two 3 7/8″ x 1″
  • Natural Touch Specialty Paper: 3 1/4″ x 3 7/8″
  • Basic White Cardstock: 1 7/8″ scallop Layered Circle Die, 3 1/2″ x 3″ (die cutting) and 4″ x 5 1/4″ (inside)
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″, 3 3/8″ x 3 7/8″

The Creating

  • First I stamped a couple of the butterflies from the Butterfly Brilliance Cling Stamp Set onto the Natural Touch Specialty Paper panel with Gray Granite Ink. It takes a few minutes for the ink to air dry on this beautiful paper (or the heat tool on the low setting would work). I also stamped a couple of these butterflies in the same Gray Granite Ink on the Basic White inside panel and the Basic White Medium Envelope.
  • With Tuxedo Black Ink, I stamped the largest butterfly from Butterfly Brilliance Cling Stamp Set on the 3 1/2″ x 3″ Whisper White Cardstock. I colored it with Light and Dark Stampin’ Blends Markers: So Saffron, Mango Melody and Smoky Slate. Then, I ran it through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine with the coordinating butterfly on the largest Brilliant Wings Die.
  • With Bermuda Bay Ink, I stamped the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from Peaceful Moments Cling Stamp Set on the Layered Circles die cut and the “Wishing you…” sentiment (also from Peaceful Moments) on the inside panel.
  • To assemble the card, I adhered the two 3 7/8″ x 1″ DSP panels onto the top and bottom of the 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic Black Cardstock panel with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I adhered the Natural Touch Specialty panel onto the 3 3/8″ x 3 7/8″ Basic Black panel and then to the larger panel (over the edges of the Bermuda Bay geometric). The layered circle I adhered next with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and popped it on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • This decorated 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic Black panel is popped onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I added three Rhinestone Basic Jewels that were colored with the Dark Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blend Marker.
  • The inside panel was adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Stampin’ Up! Fine Art Sympathy Card

I used the Fine Art Designer Series Paper and Art Gallery Photopolymer Stamp Set from the new January – June 2021 Mini Catalog to create this Sympathy card. We lost three friends last week…2 to COVID. The grays and whites in this particular design make the perfect Sympathy card. Please stay safe and enjoy!

The Paper Cuts

  • Basic Gray Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″.
  • Smokey Slate Cardstock: 3rd largest Stitched Rectangles Die.
  • Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper: 4″ x 5 1/4″ and a 3/8″ x 4″ for the inside.
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″ for the inside.

The Creating

Note: The Art Gallery Stamp Set has a 3 step floral image. I will refer to the smallest as the “center”, the largest as the “full” and the 3rd as the “middle”.

  • Stamp the center of the flower in Pretty Peacock Ink on the Stitched Rectangles die cut. Top with the full layer of the flower with Whisper White Craft Ink. Dry with the Heat Tool. Stamp the middle layer of the flower on top with VersaMark Ink, sprinkle with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and melt with the Heat Tool. Add the sentiment from Peaceful Moments Stamp Set in Pretty Peacock Ink.
  • Stamp the inside sentiment on the Whisper White panel with Pretty Peacock Ink.
  • Adhere the layers to the card front and inside with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, popping the stamped, stitched panel up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Add 3 Pearl Basic Jewels to the card front.
  • Stamp the full layer of the flower with 2nd generation Basic Gray Ink on the envelope. Add the Pretty Peacock center layer and the middle layer in Whisper White Craft Ink. Add the leaves in Pretty Peacock. Heat set (for the craft ink).

Stampin’ Up! Bloom & Grow Congrats

One of the nice things about stamping is that as your collections grows so do your options. Sometimes we forget we can mix and match, but Stampin’ Up! makes it easy with colors and images that coordinate. Here I used the Bloom & Grow Stamp Set with the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper and the Peaceful Moments sentiments. The star of the show is the DSP. I picked it first, and it chose the stamp and the colors. Enjoy!

The Cutting

  • Whisper White Cardstock: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ and a Stitched So Sweetly Die (largest scallop rectangle)
  • Best Dressed DSP: 5 1/4″ x 4 and 3 – 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ strips

The Creating

  • Stamp the floral image from Bloom & Grow in Tuxedo Black on a piece of Whisper White Cardstock. Add the sentiment above it. Cut out with the Stitched So Sweetly die.
  • Use Stampin’ Blends to color the image: Dark Petal Pink, Light Pumpkin Pie, Light & Dark Old Olive, Dark Daffodil Delight, Dark Mint Macaroon, and Dark Highland Heather.
  • Apply the DSP to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. Pop up the rectangle die with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Add Wink of Stella to the flower centers.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Tuxedo Black on the inside. Add a stip of DSP at the top and bottom with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. (I wanted to add a little extra design since the inside is a flat layer).
  • Add a strip with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to the bottom edge of the envelope. I recommend you not substitute the adhesive because it needs to be strong enough to withstand the postal machines. Make sure to get close to the edges to seal them well.

If you need supplies, links are listed below or you can browse my Stampin’ Up! shop in the side bar. Use the April Host Code for free gifts if your order is under $150. Those over will get hostess rewards.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need Stampin’ Up! Catalogs. I would love to help.

Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Poppy Elements Cards

I realized today that I had not used the Peaceful Poppies Elements from the Peaceful Poppies Suite so I pulled them out and had some fun. I made two cards, the pink one is a CASE from Lori Pinto at Lollypop Paper & Ink and the red one was inspired by the tag shown on page 24 of the January-June 2020 Mini Catalog. I hope you will enjoy them and be inspired as well.

The Cutting

  • Whisper White Cardstock: Two card bases 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″; a 4″ x 5 1/2″ front layer; Painted Labels Die – large tag; scrap for a Sentiment
  • Flirty Flamingo Cardstock: 5 1/4″ x 4″ front layer
  • Poppy Parade Cardstock: 5 1/4″ x 4″ front layer
  • Basic Black Cardstock: Painted Labels Die – large circular

The Creating

  • Cut the large circular die from Painted Labels Dies from the Whisper White front layer. Save it for later.
  • Adhere the Flirty Flamingo layer on the card base and top with the Whisper White front layer used for the die. I used Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
  • Mount the circular die back in place with Stampin’ Dimensionals on the center only.
  • Use Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to mount the flowers. There is a single layer on the part of the bottom flower not touching the circle, a single layer on the top flower where it is touching the circle and a double layer where it isn’t.
  • Stamp the Sentiment from Peaceful Moments in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and fussy cut with Snips. Use double Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to mount to the card front.
  • Add sequins from Peaceful Poppies Sequins with Mini Glue Dots.
  • Run the Poppy Parade Layer through the Big Shot with the Subtle Embossing Folder. Adhere to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
  • Stamp the sentiment from Peaceful Moments on the die cut tag. Adhere it to the circular die.
  • Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the poppy elements on the corners. Add the vellum leaf elements with Mini Glue Dots.
  • Add sequins from the Peaceful Poppies Sequins with Mini Glue Dots.

Two quick and easy cards with minimal stamping…just the sentiments.

Stampin’ Up! Poppy Birthday Card

For this card I used the Painted Poppies Stamp Set and the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper.

The card base is Basic Black Cardstock cut at 4 1/4 x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″. I adhered a 4 x 5 1/4″ piece of the DSP to the front. I stamped a piece of 2 1/2 x 4 1/4″ Whisper White with the Poppy Stem in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I added the Old Olive Inked splotches in first and second generation at the bottom. I used Real Red and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Combos to color the poppy. I added the sentiment and adhered with Snail to a 3 x 4 1/2″ piece of Basic Black. I wrapped the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon around and tied in a bow before adhering it to the card front.

I also stamped and colored a poppy on the corner of the inside 4 x 5 1/4″ layer of Whisper White and added a sentiment. Both are from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set.

You will find links to all the products used below. If you have any questions, please contact me at http://www.stampdabbles.com. I would love to hear from you.

Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Poppies Suite Cards

It’s no wonder Peaceful Poppies Suite is most popular in the January – June 2020 Mini Catalog. It is gorgeous and oh so easy to create with. Tonight I made two cards featuring just the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper and sentiments from the Peaceful Moments stamp set. You will also notice that I adjusted the sentiments to fit the spaces where I wanted them. More on that below. Enjoy!

Card 1 Cutting

  • Old Olive Card Base: 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″
  • Whisper White Card Front: 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Real Red Cardstock: 2 3/8″ x 5 1/2″
  • Peaceful Poppies DSP: 2 1/8″ x 5 1/4″

The Technique

I wanted the Thank You sentiment to fit in the blank area to the right of the DSP so I used a Masking technique to split it to two lines. Once I placed the stamp on the block, I used the sticky part of a Post It Note (or Washi Tape) to cover “You”. I inked the stamp in Tuxedo Black Ink, removed the Post It Note and stamped just the “Thank’ on the card front. Repeat for the second line. I will warn you, the hardest part is to remember to remove the Post It (with the ink on it) from the Stamp before you go to your paper. I don’t know why that is, but it is.

Card 1 Inside

  • Peaceful Poppies DSP Strip: 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 3 7/16″ x 5 1/4
  • Same technique for the sentiment.

Card 2 Cutting

  • Whisper White Cardbase: 4 1/4″ x 11 scored at 5 1/2″
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Peaceful Poppies DSP: 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″
  • Whisper White Tag die cut from the Painted Labels Dies

Card 2 Inside

  • Old Olive Cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Peaceful Poppies DSP Stip: 1/8″ x 5 1/8″
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 3 5/8″ x 5 1/8″

Adhesive and Embellishment

There are three (3) Peaceful Poppies Sequins adhered to the front of each card using Mini Glue DOTS. The layers were adhered with Snail with the exception of the small DSP strip on Card 2 which required Liquid Adhesive.

Stampin’ Up! Painted Poppies Watercolor Card

I made this Birthday Card with the Painted Poppies Bundle and sentiments from Peaceful Moments. It is a white embossed watercolor. Watercoloring is so easy and so rewarding.

  • I began with a 4 7/8″ x 3 9/16″ piece of Watercolor Paper. I also used the larger scrap piece that was leftover.
  • I stamped the poppies and leaves from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set in VersaMark Ink, sprinkled with White Embossing Powder and set with the Heat Tool.
  • I used the medium tip Aqua Painter and the following Ink Pads to watercolor the images: Crushed Curry, Lovely Lipstick, Old Olive, and Blackberry Bliss. It’s a good idea to have a paper towel on hand.
I had Flirty Flamingo out, but found there was enough variation with just the Lovely Lipstick.
  • I loaded the Aqua Painter with water diluted Lovely Lipstick and tapped it over the focal image for the Watercolor splatter background.
  • I added the sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set in the top right corner with Blackberry Bliss Ink.
  • I used the Painted Labels Dies to cut out the images on the scrap paper. I popped then up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • On a 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock I stamped the poppies in Lovely Lipstick and the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss for the inside of the card.
  • I also added the poppies to a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope for a matching set.
  • I layered on a 5″ x 3 3/4″ piece of Crushed Curry Cardstock, a 5 9/16″ x 4 1/16″ piece of Lovely Lipstick (I cut the center out with a Rectangle Die to use for a future project) and mounted on a 4 1/4″ x 11″ Blackberry Bliss Cardstock scored at 5 1/2″.
  • Note: I adhered the Watercolor Paper with Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and the other Cardstock Layers with Snail.
