Stampin’ Up! Heartfelt Prized Peony Card for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome back to another Amy’s Inkin’ Krew blog hop!  Our very talented team is doing a blog hop featuring Stampin’ Up! products.  This month we are all creating projects with a “Love” theme and I’m featuring the Prized Peony Bundle and Heartfelt Bundle from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. This card is for my mother for Valentine’s Day (don’t worry, she doesn’t subscribe). She loves florals and soft pinks so the Peony Garden Suite of products is perfect. Enjoy!

The Paper Cuts

  • Petal Pink Cardstock: 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″ for the card base & 2 1/2″ x 2 3/4″ to punch.
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 5 1/4″ x 4″ panel and 3″ x 4″ to die cut.
  • Gray Granite Cardstock: largest Stitched Rectangle die cut.
  • Peony Garden Designer Series Paper: 2nd largest Stitched Rectangle die cut.

The Creating

  • Adhere the Gray Granite Stitched Rectangles die cut to the card front. Add the Peony Garden Stitched Rectangle die cut on top.
  • With Gray Granite Ink, stamp the large peony from the Prized Peony Cling Stamp Set on the 3″ x 4″ Whisper White Cardstock. Pass it through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine with the coordinating die from Peony Dies. Adhere the die cut to the Peony Garden panel on the card front.
  • With Gray Granite Ink, stamp the large peony and leaves from the Prized Peony Cling Stamp Set on the left side of the Whisper White inside panel. Add the sentiment from Heartfelt Photopolymer Stamp Set. Adhere to the inside of the card.
  • With Gray Granite Ink, stamp the large peony from the Prized Peony Cling Stamp Set on a Whisper White Medium Envelope.
  • Punch the 2 1/2″ x 2 3/4″ Petal Pink Cardstock with the scallop edge heart punch from the Heart Punch Pack. Use Gray Granite Ink to stamp the sentiment and stitched heart on it. Pop it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Using a Dark Gray Granite Stampin’ Blend, add color to a 6″ piece of Whisper White Crinkle Seam Binding Ribbon. Tie in a bow and adhere to the card front with a Mini Glue Dot. (I love how the Stampin’ Blend makes the ribbon a little bit stiffer for a crisper bow). Trim if needed.
  • Embellish with three (3) petal pink Elegant Faceted Gems.

You can see a list of supplies used to create this card at the very bottom of this blog post.

Stampin’ Up! Prized Peony Birthday Card

This card features the Prized Peony bundle which includes the Prized Peony stamp set and Peony dies. It’s one of those bundles that offers many design options and ease of creating. I’ve posted 3 other cards from this set so far and each one is very different. I think this is my favorite (at least so far!). I would love to hear which one is your favorite. Enjoy!

The Paper

  • Very Vanilla Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ and 5 x 3 3/4″
  • Just Jade Cardstock: 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″ and a scrap for the sentiment
  • Terracotta Tile Cardstock: 5″ x 3 1/4″ (front) and 5 1/4″ x 4″ (inside)
  • Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper: approx 3 1/4″ x 3 3/4″ for image & die
  • Very Vanilla Medium Envelope

The Creating

  • I used that Stamparatus to stamp the large peony image with StazOn Jet Black Ink on the Watercolor Paper. Tips: 1) the watercolor paper has more texture than standard cardstock and the Stamparatus allows restamping multiple times for a great image (I stamped this one 3 times).2) StazOn ink is alcohol based so when watercoloring it won’t bleed. 3) you will need StazOn Cleaner to get this ink off your stamp
  • I used Petal Pink, Terracotta Tile, Just Jade and Shaded Spruce ink pads with the smallest Water Painter to color the image. Tips: 1) squeeze the lid and bottom of the stamp pad together to get an ink pallet on the top. 2) Lay a base of the lighter color (i.e., Petal Pink on the flowers) and then add the darker color (Terracotta Tile) in the shaded areas of the stamped image. Let dry or use your Heat Tool between colors/layers. 3) Keep a paper towel handy to dab extra water from your Water Painter to control the color intensity… the wetter the lighter the color will be.
  • Die cut the watercolored image with your die cutting machine.
  • Emboss the smaller Terracotta panel with the Dainty Diamonds 3-D folder.
  • Rub the Basic Black scrap with the Embossing Buddy. Stamp the sentiment in VersaMark ink, sprinkle with White embossing powder and melt with the Heat Tool. Fussy cut with your snips.
  • Adhere the embossed Terracotta panel to the Basic Black Panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. Adhere the peony on top. Tie the Vanilla ribbon in a knot and trim ends. Apply the sentiment with Mini Glue Dots.
  • Adhere the Just Jade panel to the card front. Add the other panels.

For the Inside & the Envelope

  • Stamp the sentiment in black on the Very Vanilla inside panel. Add the two peony images with 2nd Generation Terracotta ink. Adhere to the Terracotta panel and then to the card base.
  • Stamp the peony in First Generation Terracotta ink on the envelope front and flap.

You can view the other peony cards here:

Stampin’ Up! Prized Peony Sympathy Card

This card features the Prized Peony bundle and the coordinating Peony Garden Designer Series Paper. The bundle includes the Prized Peony stamp set and Peony Dies which are both fantastic. I’ve also linked the Suite which includes the Elegant Faced Gems and Vellum Square Doilies and is well worth the purchase. I’m lovin’ it! Enjoy!

The Paper

  • Petal Pink Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ and 4 peony dies.
  • Just Jade Cardstock:  4″ x 5 1/4″ and the 3 leaf dies.
  • Peony Garden DSP: 3″ x 5″, 4″ x 3/8″ and a 5 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ (gray) and the stamen die (pink)
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″

The Creating

  • Cut the 4 peony dies with Petal Pink Cardstock. Cut the stamen die with the pink DSP. Cut the 3 leaf dies with Just Jade Cardstock. Cut the 3 leaf detail dies with Shaded Spruce Cardstock. Cut the edge of the gray strip with the scallop die.
  • Use the Bone Folder to separate and curve the inside of the peony die cuts. Use a Sponge Dauber in Petal Pink ink to add color to the edge of the peony die petals. Adhere them together, lining up the notch in the bottom, and adhere with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive along the bottom edge of each layer. Adhere the stamen to the center.
  • Adhere the leaf detail to the leaf die cuts with Liquid Adhesive.
  • Adhere the Just Jade layer to the card front. Add the gray strip. Top with the Vellum Square Doily turned in a diamond.
  • Stamp the sentiments in Basic Gray Ink on the gray strip and the Whisper White panel.
  • Dry fit the peony and the leaves. Adhere on top of the doily and top with the peony.
  • Add three pink Elegant Faceted Gems.

For the Inside & the Envelope

  • Adhere the gray strip along the bottom edge of the Whisper White panel. Adhere to the inside of the card.

Stampin’ Up! Prized Peony Love and Thanks Friend Card

This card features the Prized Peony stamp set and the coordinating Peony Garden Designer Series Paper. I have a new love (to replace the retired Honey Bees). This one is a must have. Enjoy!

The Paper

  • Gray Granite Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″.
  • Petal Pink Cardstock:  Stitched Rectangle die cut (3 3/8″ x 4 6/8″) and a scrap for the sentiment.
  • Peony Card DSP: 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
  • Whisper White Cardstock: a 3 3/8″ x 4 3/16″ die cut (using the same Die as the Petal Pink, but shortened) and a 4″ x 5 1/4″ inside panel.

The Creating

  • Stamp the large peony in Gray Granite Ink on Whisper White Cardstock. Use the 3 3/8″ x 4 6/8″ Stitched Rectangle Die lined up with the bottom through your die cutting machine. Then, realign the stitching at the sides and lowered to shorten the die across the top of the peony (it’s the perfect width, but longer than I wanted it to be). Run just the top edge through your die cutting machine.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Gray Granite Ink on a scrap of Petal Pink Cardstock. Use your Paper Snips to fussy cut.
  • Adhere the DSP to the card front. Adhere the Petal Pink die cut to the DPS at an angle. Top with the stamped layer.
  • Pop the sentiment up with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Add three pink Elegant Faceted Gems.

For the Inside & the Envelope

  • Stamp the large peony in Gray Granite Ink in the left corner of the inside panel and the envelope. Adhere the panel to the inside of the card.
