Stampin’ Up! Ornate Thanks Hinge Technique Card

This card features the Ornate Thanks cling stamp set and the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper. I used the Stamparatus Hinge Technique for the background. You can find details on that in this post. So much fun!

The Paper Cuts

  • Terracotta Tile Cardstock: a card base cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel (for inside) and 3 13/16″ x 5″ (card front)
  • Old Olive Cardstock: 5 1/8″ x 4″ layer
  • Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper: Floral image, 1/2″ x 4″ strip (for inside) and 2 1/4″ x 5 3/4″ for the envelope flap.

The Creating

  • Use the Stamparatus magnets to secure the inside panel in the Stamparatus. Be sure to have your foam mat in place since it’s a photopolymer stamp set. Place the Thank You stamp centered at the top of the panel and pick it up on the clear plate. Stamp with Terracotta Tile ink. Lift the plate out and move the hinge down 3 slots and ink and stamp again. Clean the stamp.
  • Repeat above with Old Olive ink in the 2nd and 5th hinge slots.
  • Repeat with Crushed Curry ink in the 3rd hinge slot.
  • Stamp the inside greeting on the inside panel with Basic Gray ink.
  • Color a floral image from the white and gold foil sheet of the DSP with Stampin’ Blends. I used Flirty Flamingo and Old Olive Light and Dark. Fussy cut on the outside of the gold foil line.
  • Adhere the layers together Multipurpose Liquid Glue and pop the flower up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Add 3 Champagne Rhinestone Basic Gems to the front.
  • Apply Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the envelope flap and press on the floral DSP. Trim with Paper Snips.

Stampin’ Up! Plaid Tidings Harvest Hellos Card for the Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome to the Inkin’ Krew Monthly Blog Hop! This month the Inkin’ Krew team theme is “Giving Thanks.”

My card features the Celebration Tidings Bundle from the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog and the Harvest Hello stamp set and coordinating Apple Builder Punch from the 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.

The Paper Cuts

  • Cajun Craze Cardstock: a 4 1/4″ x 11″ (scored at 5 1/2″) card base and a die cut of the 2nd largest die from Celebration Labels Dies
  • Plaid Tidings 6×6 Designer Series Paper: a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel, a 4″ x 3/4″ strip for the inside, and a 5 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ strip for the envelope flap.
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ panel for the front, 4″ x 5 1/4″ for the inside, a 2 3/4″ x 2″ for stamping, and a die cut of the 3rd largest die from Celebration Labels Dies.
  • Cinnamon Cider Cardstock: a double frond and a single frond die cut from the Sunflower Dies, and a 1″ x 1″ for stamping.
  • Early Expresso Cardstock: a double frond from the Sunflower Dies and 3 sprigs from Celebration Labels Dies.
  • Mossy Meadow Cardstock: 2 1/2″ x 1″ for stamping
  • Whisper White Medium Envelope

The Creating

  • Stamp the pumpkin from Harvest Hellos Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Ink on the 2 3/4″ x 2″ Whisper White Cardstock. Outline the ribs of the pumpkin with the Dark Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blend. Fill in the pumpkin with Dark Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blend. Apply Light Pumpkin Pie to the centers of the 3 ribs in the front of the pumpkin to “lift” color to highlight. Punch out with the Apple Builder Punch. Tip: you can use a PostIt Note or flag as a handle if needed.
  • Stamp 2 pumpkin leaves and then the stem in Tuxedo Black Ink on the 2 1/2″ x 1″ Mossy Meadow card piece. Use the punch to cut out the stem. Fussy cut the leaves with Paper Snips.
  • Stamp a pumpkin leaf in Tuxedo Black Ink on the 1″ x 1″ Cinnamon Cider cardstock and fussy cut.
  • Use Cajun Craze Ink to stamp “Grateful” from the “Always Grateful” sentiment in the Celebration Tidings Stamp Set in the top right corner of the Whisper White label. Tip: I used a PostIt flag to cover “Always” before inking and then removed the flag before stamping. Stamp “Always” on the inside card panel.

The Assembly

  • Layer the Whisper White 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ panel, the Plaid Tidings panel, the Cajun Craze label and the Whisper White label on the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive or Stampin’ Seal.
  • Arrange the frond die cuts and glue into place.
  • Apply a Mini Glue Dot to the front of 2 of the fronds and attach to the pumpkin top on each side. The 3rd one will be glued next to the frond peeking around the pumpkin once attached.
  • Apply a Mini Glue Dot to the bottom, back of the pumpkin stem and attach to the pumpkin.
  • Pop the pumpkin on with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Add a Mossy Meadow leaf at the stem with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Add the other 2 leaves at the bottom right with the stems glued and the overhanging edges with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.
  • Add 3 gold Metallic Pearls.
  • Adhere the stamped Whisper White panel to the inside of the card. Add the 4″ x 3/4″ plaid strip at the bottom.
  • Apply glue to the envelope flap and apply the remaining plaid DSP. Use scissors to cut away the excess.

Stampin’ Up! Ornate Style Gift Card Holder

This card features the Ornate Style Bundle, the coordinating Ornate Thanks Stamp Set and the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper. It is a simple design that just looks hard because of the intricacy of the dies. The gift card template is CASEd from Julie Dimatteo at thepaperpixie.com. I hope you like it!

The Paper Cuts

  • Terracotta Tile Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ and 2 1/2″ and the larger rectangle die from Ornate Layers Dies (approx 4 3/4″ x 3 1/4″)
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 5 1/4″ x 4″ and the smaller rectangle die from Ornate Layers Dies (approx 3 1/2″ x 2 1/4″).
  • Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper: A 5 3/4″ x 4″ piece cut on the long edge at 2 3/4″ and 2 1/4″, leaving a 3/4″ strip. A 2 1/4″ x 5 3/4″ strip for the envelope flap.

The Creating

  • Stamp the sentiments on the Whisper White Die and the inside layer with Soft Suede Ink.
  • Adhere the larger Whisper White layer to the inside of the card base.
  • Adhere the DSP pieces to the card front, the Whisper White layer and the envelope flap (trim with snips).
  • Fold and burnish the score mark on the card front. This will create the gift card pocket. Use a 1″ punch to notch the edge to make it easy to slide the gift card in and out. Apply Tear n’ Tape to the top and bottom edges and adhere.
  • Adhere the Whisper White die cut to the Terracotta Tile die cut. Flip it over and apply glue just to the side that will be over the front panel.
  • Apply 3 clear Elegant Faceted Gems.

Tip: I find the Take Your Pick Tool with the Brush attachment and foam mats helpful with intricate dies to remove all the little pieces. I have the best results by leaving them in the die, laying them on the foam mat and brushing them. The mat will catch all the pieces to easily dump in the trash. The TYPT has lots of other helpful uses!

These are fast and easy and lend themselves to any stamp set. It will be handy for me for the holidays to be sure. This one is going to a friend who loaned me a book this summer…”A Lineage of Grace” by Francine Rivers.

Please email me at stampdabbles@gmail.com with any questions. I’d love to hear from you.
