Stampin’ Up! Timeless Tropical Notecard

I used the Stampin’ Up! Timeless Tropical Cling Stamp Set and coordinating In the Tropics Dies to make this beach themed notecard.

My card design was inspired by Color Throwdown Countdown #652.

The Paper Cuts

  • Pacific Point Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ (base) & 4 1/2″ x 1 3/4″
  • Bermuda Bay Cardstock: 4 1/2″ x 1 1/4″
  • Crumb Cake Cardstock: 4 1/2″ x 1 3/4″
  • Pattern Party 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper – Granny Apple Green Pattern: 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
  • Basic White Cardstock: 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ (stamping/die cutting) & 4″ x 5 1/4″ (inside panel)
  • Mango Melody Cardstock: sun die cut from Sheep Dies in the 3 Aug-30 Sept Sale-a-bration Brochure (free with $50 order)

The Creating

I began by die cutting the top edge of the Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay and Crumb Cake Cardstock strips with the snow die from Cabin Dies from the upcoming 3 Aug to 3 Jan 2021 Mini Catalog. It’s the die that has the fox on the edge…be sure he is facing off the cardstock…he’s cute, but he’d be funny on the beach ;). I stamped the sentiment on the Crumb Cake layer in Tuxedo Black Ink and then glued the pieces together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue along the edge. When the glue was dry I ran them through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the 3rd largest Stitched Rectangle Die.

I stamped the palm trees image in Tuxedo Black Ink on the envelope front and the Basic White inside panel and scrap. I colored the fronds with Dark Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blend and the trunks with Light Soft Suede Stampin’ Blend. I die cut the one on the scrap along with the cloud stamp from Sheep Dies.

All that is left is the assembly…the DSP, layered rectangle, sun, cloud and inside panel are adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. The die cut palm trees are popped up with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (the trunks with halves). I added a double bow from Linen Thread with a Mini Glue Dot.

Thank you for stopping by. If you have any questions or need a catalog, I’d be very happy to be your Demonstrator.   You can drop me an email at stampdabbles@gmail.com. I’d love to hear from you!

Stampin’ Up! Timeless Tropical Birthday Card with Block Watercolor Stamping for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome to Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop for July! Today we are sharing “Celebrate Summer” projects. You will find links at the bottom of my post to hop you along the way to the other projects. Be sure to visit them all to see how each team member interpreted the theme. I hope you will enjoy what I made for you!

I used the Timeless Tropical Cling Stamp Set from the 2021 -2022 Annual Catalog (page 21) to make this Summer birthday card.  For me, nothing says summer more than a “beachy” sunset. The card is quite simple (no die cuts, embossing or Stampin’ Dimensionals) with the wow factor being the block watercolor stamping technique on Shimmer White Cardstock.

    The Paper Cuts

    • Calypso Coral Cardstock: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ (card base)
    • Shimmer White Cardstock: two 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel (front and inside)
    • Basic Black Cardstock: 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ (front layer)

    The Creating

I began by inking a size D Clear Block with a layer of Bumblebee Ink, Calypso Coral Ink and Misty Moonlight Ink. I then spritzed it with water from a Stampin’ Spritzer. Tip: I recommend holding the spritzer about 12″ from the block. You want to saturate the ink until it breaks up a little, but not so wet it runs. I pressed the block with the colors firmly on one of the Shimmer White panels. I hit it with my Heat Tool on the low setting to speed up the drying process. It needs to be completely dry before stamping the palm trees image in Tuxedo Black Ink.

I stamped the front sentiment and the inside sentiment as well as the palm trees on the inside panel and the Medium Basic White Envelope. I repeated the watercolor block stamping with a size H Clear Block to the inside panel. I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the layers to the card base. The Take Your Pick Tool putty tip was super handy to add three Matte Black Dots for embellishment.

I hope you will give this technique a try if you haven’t already. It’s fun and no two are alike. If you notice, this one has some watercolor speckles (they don’t show up much in the photos, but they are Calypso Coral and are quite nice on the actual card front).

Stampin’ Up! Timeless Tropical Peek-A-Boo Thank You Card

I used the Timeless Tropical Photopolymer Stamp Set and the coordinating In The Tropics Dies from the 2021-22 Annual Catalog to create this thank you card. It features a fun peek-a-boo die cut with a smooth circle die from the Layering Circles Dies. Enjoy!

    The Paper Cuts

    • Basic White Thick Cardstock: 4 1/4′′ x 11′′ scored at 5 1/2′′ (card base).
    • Basic White Cardstock: 3” x 6” (for stamping & die cutting)
    • Flirty Flamingo Cardstock: 1″ x 2″
    • Old Olive Cardstock: 1″ x 4″

    The Creating

I began by stamping the two flower images and two leaves on Basic White Cardstock with Tuxedo Black Ink. I colored them with Stampin’ Blends Combos. I began by filling in two petals (with the stamin) of the hibiscus with Light Flirty Flamingo, adding a slightly smaller layer of Dark Flirty Flamingo, then Light Real Red, Dark Real Red, Light Cherry Cobbler and Dark Cherry Cobbler. Tip: when working with a smaller area the edges stay wet long enough to blend without going back over them. I repeated for the other 3 petals. For the smaller flower I used the same method with Light So Saffron , adding Dark So Saffron, Light Mango Melody and Dark Mango Melody. For the leaves I used Light and Dark Old Olive. For the stamin, I colored it in with Light Flirty Flamingo, added Light So Saffron on top and then dotted Dark Flirty Flamingo and Light Old Olive on the top half. I then die cut the images by running them through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine with the coordinating In The Tropics Dies. I also cut the little flowers die from a scrap of Flirty Flamingo Cardstock and the small green leaves from a scrap of Old Olive Cardstock.

Next I cut the 2nd largest smooth circle die cut from Layering Circles Dies from the card front about 3/4″ from the top and sides. I placed the card on the Stamp-a-ratus open to the inside and placed the sentiment and hibiscus stamp down and closed the top to check the placement. Once satisfied, I picked up the stamps, inked them with Tuxedo Black and stamped them. I masked the hibiscus and stamped the two leaves. I also added the hibiscus and leaves to the corner of the Basic White Medium Envelope. Tip: to make the mask, stamp the image on a post it note, catching the sticky edge then trim the image out on the stamped line with Paper Snips. I then used the Stampin’ Blends to color as before. Tip: place a scrap of paper in the envelope to prevent bleed through to the other side.

I adhered the die cut hibiscus, yellow flower and one of the leaves with Stampin’ Dimensionals and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. The other components are adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I embellished with Wink of Stella on the Stamins and 3 Crushed Curry Holiday Rhinestone Jewels to some of the flower centers.

    Stampin’ Up! Timeless Tropical Watercolor

This card uses the Timeless Tropical Bundle and Stitched Rectangle Dies. It is accompanied by the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper and Lovely Lipstick Cardstock which we will be saying good bye to shortly. It’s time to stock up! Enjoy tonight’s card.

    The Cuts

    • Lovely Lipstick Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″ card base scored at 5 1/2″
    • Whisper White Cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″; Rectangle Stitched Die (3 15/16″ x 2 5/8″), Floral Die, and 3-Leaf Dies
    • Tropical Oasis DSP: 4″ x 5 1/4″ and 4 1/4″ x 3/4″ Strip

    The Creating

    • Use StazOn Black Ink to stamp the Hibiscus and 3 Leaves from the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set. Stamp the Sentiment on the Stitched Rectangle and on the inside panel (This one came from So Sentimental). Immediately clean your stamps with the StazOn Cleaner. This prevents the permanent ink from building up on your stamps. Because StazOn is permanent, it will not run when watercoloring.
    • Use the Petal Pink, Lovely Lipstick, Real Red and Cherry Cobbler Ink to watercolor the flower with the Aqua Painters in layers from dark at the center to light at the edges. The Whisper White will tend to buckle more than Watercolor paper so don’t put too much water down. I just squeeze it into the color on the lid of my ink pads instead of placing it on my paper in this instance. Tip: I also lay the watercolored images face down on my grid paper and apply a large block to the top as it dries to help flatten it.
    • Use the Pear Pizzazz to watercolor in the entire surface of the leaves. Then add Old Olive to one side and Garden Green to the other leaving the veins Pear Pizzazz. Tip: The color inspirations are from the DSP.
    • I wanted more depth in the center so I used matching Stampin’ Blends to the black lines in the image for accent. I used Dark Daffodil Delight and Petal Pink on the stamen and finished with Wink of Stella. I added a little Dark Basic Black Blend to the very center around the base of the stamen. Tip: Don’t be afraid to mix mediums.
    • Use Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to adhere the DSP layer to the card front and the Stitched Rectangle to the DSP. Position and add the leaves. Also adhere the inside panel and DSP strip inside the card.
    • Pop the hibiscus with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Links for items used to make this card are listed below or you can browse for other supplies at my Stampin’ Up! shop in the side bar. Stampin’ Up! Timeless Tropical Thank You Card

For this card I used the Timeless Tropical Bundle and Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper. This paper is so easy to work with and is great for masculine as well as feminine cards.

The base is Whisper White A5 with DSP layered at 4″ x 5 1/4″, 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ and a Whisper White 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ embossed with the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder. I distressed all the edges using the open edge of my Paper Snips for a casual feel. The stamping is done in Tuxedo Black. The palms are colored in with the blends listed below, cut with the coordinating die and mounted on Stampin’ Dimensionals. (I cut thin strips from the side for the trunks).

On the inside I adhered a 4″ x 3/4″ piece of the floral DSP. I stamped the message from Peaceful Moments above it. I tied a doubled piece of linen thread in a bow around the palm trunk and snipped the looped end.

You will find links to all the products used below. If you have any questions, please contact me at http://www.stampdabbles.com. I would love to hear from you.

    Stampin’ Up! Timeless Tropical Card

I used the Timeless Tropical Bundle to make this bright card. I love how the colors pop off the black background and I hope you do, too.

The card base is Basic Black Cardstock cut at 4 1/4” x 11” and scored at 5 1/2”. The inside is a 4” x 5 1/4” piece of Whisper White Cardstock. I used scrap pieces of Whisper White for the hibiscus pieces and the label.

I used Momento Tuxedo Black to stamp: the Hibiscus and three (3) leaves from the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set, the Thinking of You from the Little Ladybug Stamp Set and the Hibiscus randomly on the Basic Black card front.

I used Stampin’ Blends to color the Hibiscus and three (3) leaves: Dark Daffodil Delight, Real Read Light & Dark, Lovely Lipstick Light & Dark, Old Olive Light & Dark. I then used the In The Tropics Dies to cut out the Hibiscus pieces. The label is from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.

The hibiscus on the inside and the envelope is stamped in Lovely Lipstick. First Generation on the inside and Second Generation on the Envelope.

I added a little wink of Stella to the inside of the Hibiscus. It and one of the leaves are popped on Stampin’ Dimensionals. The rest is glued with Liquid Adhesive.
