Stampin’ Up! Dragonfly Garden Birthday Card for the Sunday Stamps Color Challenge

Even though it is technically Autumn, it is the Dog Days of Summer here in Alabama where the nights are cool, but the days are still warm with dragonflies still fluttering around the gardens and ponds. I hope you enjoy this colorful Happy Birthday card that uses the Parisian Flourishes Embossing Folder and the Dragonfly Garden Bundle (Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set + Dragonflies Punch).

The inspiration for the colors comes from the Sunday Stamps Weekly Challenge SSC267 AUTUMN BOLDNESS. The requirement are to use of a minimum of 3 colors from the graphic below, plus a neutral of choice.

The Paper Cuts

  • Thick Basic White Cardstock: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ (card base)
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ (embossed panel), 4″ x 5-1/2″ (inside panel) and 3-1/4″ x 1″ (sentiment)
  • Bermuda Bay Cardstock: 4-1/8″ x 5-1/2″ (front panel)
  • Vellum Cardstock: 7-1/2″ x 2″ (Dragonfly punches)

The Creating

I began by stamping three dragonflies in Tuxedo Black Ink on Vellum Cardstock. I colored these with Stampin’ Blends: Light Mango Melody, Dark Pumpkin Pie and Light Bermuda Bay. I applied Wink of Stella to the wings and punched the dragonflies out with coordinating punch. I used my Bone Folder to add a wave to the wings.

Next, I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment in Tuxedo Black on Basic White Cardstock and fussy cut it with my Paper Snips. I also stamped the sentiment on the inside panel along with the dragonfly. I added the dragonfly to the corner of the envelope. I colored the dragonflies with the Light Bermuda Stampin’ Blend and added Wink of Stella.

I ran the 3 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ Basic White panel through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine inside the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder with the No. 1 and No. 4 plates. I placed two pieces of the White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon across the center fo the panel and adhered them to the back with Mini Glue Dots. I adhered the embossed panel to the Bermuda Bay panel and both to the card base and then the inside panel with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

I wrapped ribbon 3x around 4 fingers and tied it in the middle with a small piece of the ribbon. I popped the fussy cut sentiment on with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals and added the bow to the left with a Mini Glue Dot. The dragonflies were added with a Mini Glue Dot and then topped with a yellow 2021-23 In Color Jewel, an orange Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewel and a teal Artistry in Bloom Adhesive-Backed Sequin on the matching dragonfly.

Stampin’ Up! Beauty of Friendship Autumn Card

I used the Stampin’ Up! Beauty of Friendship Bundle and the coordinating Beauty of the Earth 12″x12″ Designer Series Paper from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog to make this card. This bundle has been super fun to create with. Enjoy!

    The Paper Cuts

    • Basic White Thick Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ (card base)
    • Beauty of the Earth 12″x12″ DSP: 4″ x 5 1/4″ (front panel), 5 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ (env) & 4 1/4″ x 1/4″ (inside)
    • Vellum Cardstock: 2nd largest die cut in Stitched Rectangles Dies
    • Mossy Meadow Cardstock: large tree top outline die cut from Beautiful Trees Dies and 3 1/2″ x 1″ strip for die cutting (front)
    • Early Expresso Cardstock: tree trunk and branches die cut from Beautiful Trees Dies
    • Bumblebee Cardstock: tree foliage die cut from Beautiful Trees Dies
    • Basic White Cardstock: small flagged label die cut from Tasteful Labels Dies (there is a smooth edge die in the Beautiful Trees Dies if you prefer)

    The Creating

I stamped the Hello sentiment with Mossy Meadow Ink on the Tasteful Label die cut. With Bumblebee Ink, I stamped the tree top image from Beauty of Friendship Stamp Set over the tree foliage die cut. I love the texture it gave! I adhered the tree die cut to the green tree top outline with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and then added the stamped foliage on top.

On the inside of the card base I stamped the tree image with Second Generation Early Expresso, Mossy Meadow and Bumblebee Inks. I adhered the small DSP strip along the bottom edge. I adhered the larger DSP to the envelope flap and trimmed the excess with Paper Snips.

To assemble the card, I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the tree die cut and the “underbrush” die cut. I adhered the DSP panel to the card base and then dry fit the Vellum die cut, tree die cut and underbrush die cut. I added the Crushed Curry Holiday Basic Rhinestones with my Take Your Pick Tool and the tree die cut to the vellum rectangle. I applied liquid glue under these elements to adhere the vellum to the front panel. I then slipped the 1/4″ Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon under the tree trunk and tied it in a bow around the top of the card panel. Lastly, I added the sentiment label and the underbrush.

Thank you for stopping by. If you have any questions or need a catalog, I’d be very happy to be your Demonstrator.   You can drop me an email at stampdabbles@gmail.com. I’d love to hear from you!

Stampin’ Up! Scalloped Kraft Treat Box

Happy Fourth of July to you and your family! I’m sharing a gift box that I made for a couple of friends who have their birthday today…while that’s cool to be born on Independence Day, I know they don’t want Red, White and Blue birthday packages. So here’s the little treat box I put together to celebrate them. I think these elegant Scallop Kraft Treat Boxes would also make great shower or wedding favor packaging. Enjoy!

    These boxes measure 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ and come in two pieces…the scalloped lid and the bottom…in packs of 8.

    The Paper Cuts

    • Gold Foil Sheets: 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″
    • Vellum Cardstock: 2″ x 3″ for second largest butterfly die cut from Brilliant Wings Dies.

    The Creating

I adhered the Gold Foil square to the box top with Stampin’ Seal and added the Square Vellum Doily with four Mini Glue Dots. Next I added two 7″ strips of 3/8″ Fine Art Ribbon across the sides with glue dots. This helped hide the adhesive under the vellum and allows the lid to be removed without disturbing the decoration. There is also a glue dot under the ribbon where it hangs over the edge (the gold metallic in the ribbon makes it slightly rigid and the glue dot helped it drape over the side). I trimmed the ends of the ribbon at an angle with my Paper Snips. The bow is also added with a couple of glue dots.

I cut the 2nd largest butterfly die from Brilliant Wings Dies from Vellum Cardstock with the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine. I added three gold Metallic Pearls with the putty end of the Take Your Pick Tool to the body and attached it to the bow with glue dots. The final embellishment is three of the white Elegant Faceted Gems.

Stampin’ Up! Beauty of Friendship Masculine Birthday Card

This card features the Beauty of Friendship Photopolymer Stamp Set for a woodsy, masculine birthday. It involves a couple of classic stamping techniques to create depth and distance: 1) Fading and 2) Multi-generation Stamping. Enjoy!

    The Paper Cuts

    • Mossy Meadow Cardstock: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ (card base).
    • Misty Moonlight Cardstock: the 3rd smallest smooth circle from Layering Circles Dies.
    • Vellum Cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″ (front layer)
    • Basic White Cardstock: two 4″ x 5 1/4″ panels (stamped front layer and inside), the 2nd smallest smooth circle from Layering Circles Dies, 4th largest Stitched Rectangles die.

    The Creating

I began by stamping the largest tree image (the Step 1 image with the shading built in) with Mossy Meadow Ink. I stamped it once in the center and then a second generation (without inking), slightly overlapping the first, and then a third generation – if the image hasn’t run off the edge of the paper (which creates a line with lighter ink on one side and darker ink on the other side of the image. If it has reink and stamp off twice before going to your card panel). Reink and repeat for the forest on the front panel. I used Blending Brushes to add Misty Moonlight Ink to the top half of the stamped panel (sky) and Mossy Meadow Ink to the bottom of the panel. Here’s what that looked like…you could stop here, glue this to the card base and add a sentiment for a quick and easy card.

On the Stitched Rectangle die cut I stamped the tree trunk in Early Expresso Ink and then added the 2nd Step tree stamp overlapping in First, Second and Third Generation Mossy Meadow Ink. On the inside panel and envelope I stamped the 2nd Step tree image twice in First Generation Ink and then the 1st Step tree image in 2nd Generation Ink (stamping off on scrap paper first) between them. I liked the foggy illusion it gave. I added the Best Wishes sentiment from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set on the smaller Basic White circle. With Misty Moonlight Ink I stamped the sentiment from the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set on the inside panel.

To assemble the card, I used Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to adhere the front and inside panels to the card base. I aligned the stitched rectangle on top of the vellum, flipped the vellum/rectangle over and applied adhesive on the vellum behind the rectangle before placing the vellum on the stamped front panel. I added the stitched rectangle over the glue with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I applied Stampin’ Dimensionals to the left side of the circle and liquid glue to the right to balance the height evening. I added 3 Misty Moonlight 2020-22 In Color Enamel Dots (no longer available, but the 2020-22 In Color Square Gems would be a great replacement if you don’t have them) with the putty end of the Take Your Pick Tool.

I hope you enjoyed the card…and thanks for your patience because that 1st Generation, 2nd Generation and 1st Step, 2nd Step stuff can get confusing! If you have any questions or need a catalog, I’d be very happy to be your Demonstrator.   You can drop me an email at stampdabbles@gmail.com. I’d love to hear from you!

Stampin’ Up! Pansy Patch Thank You Card

I used the Pansy Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set and the coordinating Pansy Petals 12×12 Designer Series Paper from the 2021-22 Annual Catalog to create this thank you card. It also features 2021-23 In Colors in the cardstock and embellishments. Enjoy!

    The Paper Cuts

    • Soft Succulent Cardstock: 4 1/4′′ x 11′′ scored at 5 1/2′′ (card base) and 2 1/4″ square (sentiment).
    • Evening Evergreen Cardstock: 4 – 1 3/4″ squares and the 4th largest scallop die cut from Layering Circles Dies.
    • Pansy Petals 12×12 Designer Series Paper: 2 – 1 1/2″ squares from one pattern, 2 – 1 1/2″ squares from a second pattern, 4″ x 1/2″ (inside) and 2 1/4″ x 6″ (envelope).
    • Vellum Cardstock: 3rd largest scallop die cut from Layering Circles Dies.
    • Basic White Cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″ (inside panel).

    The Creating

I began by stamping the “Thank You” sentiment from the Pansy Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set onto the center of the Soft Succulent square with Evening Evergreen Ink. I ran it through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine with the 4th from the smallest smooth die. I adhered the die cut to the Evening Evergreen scallop circle die cut with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back and adhered it to the Vellum scallop die cut. I folded a 3″ piece of Pale Papaya 3/8″ Open Weave Ribbon in half over a Mini Glue Dot to hold it in place and then another Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon to the back of the vellum at about the 2 o’clock position so it would be in the top right square.

I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the 1 1/2″ DSP squares to the 1 3/4″ Evening Evergreen squares and then to the card front. I also added the Vellum tag making sure the glue was covered by the Evening Evergreen circle. I added three of the Pale Papaya 2021-23 In Color Jewels along the bottom left square.

I stamped the inside sentiment with Evening Evergreen Ink on the Basic White panel and added the DSP strip to the bottom with liquid glue before adhering it to the card base. I adhered the matching DSP to the envelope flap with liquid glue and trimmed the excess away with Paper Snips.

Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalog Sneak Peek – Pansy Patch Thank You Card

The new Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalog is going to go live on May 4th! Here’s a sneak peek of the Pansy Patch Bundle which includes the Pansy Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Pansy Dies at a 10% discount. I also used the coordinating Pansy Petals 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper and the new 2021-2023 In Colors. Enjoy!

    The Paper Cuts

    • Soft Succulent Cardstock: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 8 1/2″ (card base), 6 leaf detail die cuts.
    • Evening Evergreen: 6 embossed leaf die cuts.
    • Vellum Cardstock: 3 of the large embossed pansy leaf die cuts and 3 of the single embossed pansy leaf die cuts.
    • Basic White Cardstock: 3 large pansy leaf edging die cuts, 3 single leaf edging die cuts, a 2″ smooth layering circle die cut and a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel (inside).
    • Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper: 4″ x 5 1/4″ (front), 5 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ (env) and 4′ x 1/2″ (inside).
    • Bumblebee Cardstock: 1 pansy center die cut (cuts 3)
    • Fresh Freesia Cardstock: 3 larger pansy center die cuts.

    The Creating

    • With Evening Evergreen Ink, I stamped the sentiments from the Pansy Petals Photopolymer Stamp Set on the Layering Circles die cut and on the inside panel.
    • I placed the Vellum Cardstock pansy leaf die cuts and the Basic White pansy leaf tips on my Silicone Craft Mat and applied Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the backs fo the white tips. I lined them up on the tips of the vellum petals. Then I applied glue to the Fresh Freesia centers and placed them on the larger Vellum pansy petals. Tip: there are straight lines to line up to the edge of the white tips. Then I added the Bumblebee smaller centers with 1/2 of a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional. Tip: Mini Glue Dots would work too if you would like it a little less raised. I applied liquid glue to the back of the layer pansy so it was behind the Fresh Freesia die cut and wouldn’t be seen through the Vellum. I placed this on top of the single pansy leaf die cut.
    • I applied liquid glue to the Soft Succulent detail leaves and adhered them to the Evening Evergreen embossed die cuts.

    • I arranged the die cuts on the card front and adhered them in place. The pansy on the left is popped up with Mini Dimensionals (behind the Fresh Freesia) and the other elements are adhered with liquid glue.
    • I added three Fresh Freesia 2021-2023 In Color Jewels. These are so pretty…there is an iridescent coating that really shines.
    • I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to apply the inside panel, the small DSP strip to the lower edge of the inside panel and the larger strip to the envelope flap, trimming the excess with Paper Snips.

Stampin’ Up! Happy Birthday to You and Coordinating Birthday Dies

Stampin’ Up! created coordinating dies to the Sale-A-Bration Happy Birthday to You stamp set in the Coordination Product Release for February 4 – March 31, 2020, while supplies last. There is a die that cuts the flowers from the cake which is what I played with tonight. The card was CASEd from New Zealand Demonstrator, Angela Meiritz-Reid.

    • The card base is Whisper White Cardstock cut at 4 1/4 x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″. I embossed a 4 x 5 1/4″ piece with the Scripty Embossing Folder and adhered to with Tombow Liquid Adhesive to the front.
    • I stamped the top portion of the cake with the flowers onto Whisper White Cardstock with VersaMark Ink, sprinkled with White Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.
    • I used a Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Marker to highlight the flowers and then followed with a medium tip Aqua Painter to spread the ink and watercolor the images. I repeated with Granny Apple Green for the leaves. I find this gives me more control and definition with the small detail stamps than picking up ink with the aqua painter.
    • I used the dies to cut out the flowers and then my Snips to separate the two from the single one. I also cut the berry sprig and leaves from Vellum, Blackberry Bliss, Granny Apple and Garden Green Cardstock scraps.
    • I adhered the flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I placed a puddle of Liquid Adhesive on my Silicone Mat and touched the bottom of the leaf and sprig cut outs to it and them tucked them into place. I found it helpful to use an acrylic block to weight it in place while the glue set.
    • I added a small Pearl Basic Jewel to the center of each flower.
    • The sentiment is stamped in Blackberry Bliss Ink on a Whisper White Cardstock scrap, cut out with snips and adhered with Liquid Adhesive.
    • I stamped a portion of the cake and flowers in the corner of a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Whisper White Cardstock and the Happy Birthday sentiment in Blackberry Bliss Ink.
    • I touched the flower centers and the flower berries with an Aqua Painter for the watercolor fill.
    • I layered the left edge with a piece of Blackberry Bliss Cardstock, adhered with Snail.
